This is something to watch

The question here is this the beginning of Spain’s turn to the hard right? Is this their version of the tea party? Spain is a fascinating country. It sometimes feels as if there are a few countries within it. Spain is a wonderful country that has been led by center left or center right party. But it has always had that far right fringe. Let’s hope it remains that way. Hopefully, the fringe will not infect and begin to devour the middle.

European politics are very different than the US. Most of the countries have multiple parties that create coalitions.

The fringe parties on either end become popular when there are adiverse events that resonate. I’m not as familiar with Spain, but it sounds like what is happening there is similar to other countries. For instance, in Sweden, the far right party has grown in popularity, primarily because welcoming the refugees from Arab countries has created a lot of Issues as they have refused to assimilate and crime has increased.

Many countries have pendulum that swings left for a number of years and then swings right. We have crazies on the left and the right in the US ,but we still have a center majority who often vote for a president who they least dislike rather than one they enthusiastically support.
