I’m afraid we will muck it up alright, all on our own.Not base. It’s too easy to defend the lane where we need Kardary to score. It usually opens mid range shots which this team shouldn’t take.
Speaking of offense, Rutgers is nowhere near the caliber of offense that Iowa, Oklahoma, and Kansas . Far, far from it. Those teams absolutely obliterated Sha’s defense. While Rutgers is more physical and will push us around on the interior, hopefully they’re not going nuts with their shooting and we can muck it up a bit.
I have not liked the rotations and lack of roles out of the gate with this group and trying to play too fast with so many new faces. Our average possession length is still way too quick IMO. Maybe someday with a cohesive group he recruits that’ll work.I’m afraid we will muck it up alright, all on our own.
Without poise on offense, they will take us to the cleaners. Our only hope is to hit a few more 3s and be aggressive driving to the basket, which we usually are, and convert at least 70 percent of our free throws.
I just disagree. Sadly I think we need to play faster. It will be ugly, but every time I see teams just slow things down on us, we’re screwed. We’re simply at a disadvantage at the big positions because we’re asking 4s to play the 5, 3s to play the 4. Slow it down and let them pound us seems to be a good game plan against us. I think we need to score and force the opponent to play faster than they want and hopefully the screw it up more than we do. I understand it may be unwatchable with the turnovers but I think it could be unwatchable for both teams fans. Watching guys like Sanogo in a controlled game take it to Samuel and Jackson won’t be fun.I have not liked the rotations and lack of roles out of the gate with this group and trying to play too fast with so many new faces. We look out of control. The unforced turnovers are obscene. We’re playing too many bad offensive players together and they’re racing.
Kansas was the first time our two best offensive players - Samuel and Richmond - got to 30 minutes together. We looked more under control as a result. Keep that going. Davis should return. Get him in there.
