Just a few notes:
Sha has been an assistant to Willard for about 10 years both at Iona & SHU. It is time for him to move up to a head coaching position if that is what he desires. I think he is ready and will do a good job. He is a good recruiter and has the contacts but now it is time to find out how good a head coach he can be.
John Dunne was making about $240K at St Petes. Their program has stepped up in recent years since the death of their former President who was anti intercollegiate sports. Presumably Sha would get a similar salary but just important is how much support he will have from the administration with staff and funding. Jersey City is a city on the rise which should also help. Having an AD that he is familiar with also helps.
As far as John Dunne is concerned he is moving on to Marist which is a program in the process of being upgraded. They have money to spend and are doing it. I'm told by good sources that his total package at Marist will be in area of 750K or a bit more. The highest paid coach in the MAAC is at Quinipiac at about 900K. (Remember the total packages are more than the base salaries paid by the schools but include all sorts of ancillaries) If Sha does a good job over the next few years there is no reason that he can not move up to a more high profile program. Quite honestly I think he will do a very good job.
