South Orange, N.J. – Junior men's soccer standouts CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) and Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany) were both named to the 2020-21 NCAA Division I Men's All-America Team as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday. Tibbling and Dahn are both Second Team members, the first All-Americans of any kind for Seton Hall men's soccer since Sacha Kljestan was named to the All-America Third Team in 2005. This is the first time since 1950 that the Pirates have had multiple All-America selections in the same year.

On the offensive end, Tibbling led the Pirates with seven goals and 17 points on the season to go along with three assists. With his seven tallies, Tibbling ranked second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the country in goals scored. The junior from Jarna, Sweden scored three game winning goals for the Pirates including the game-winners in the Pirates' BIG EAST Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament victory over Air Force.

The anchor of the Pirates defense, Dahn helped guide a back line that was the best in the BIG EAST at preventing shots on net and gave the Pirates a goal differential of +20, second best in the conference. In his first year in a Seton Hall uniform, Dahn logged over 1500 minutes for The Hall and was on the pitch for all but nine minutes throughout the campaign. Despite lining up as a center back, Dahn also scored twice for The Hall while registering 12 shots on net, second best on the team.

Both Tibbling and Dahn were also named First Team All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches and First Team All-BIG EAST as voted on by the conference's coaches. Together, the pair helped guide the Pirates to one of the best seasons in program history. The Pirates won their first BIG EAST Tournament since 1991 while reaching as far as the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for only the second time in school history and first since 1988. The squad also reached as high as the No. 6 spot in the national polls, also the second highest in program history.

Tibbling and Dahn are the 16th and 17th Pirates to be named All-Americans in Seton Hall men's soccer history. In total, six BIG EAST student-athletes were honored on the men's side, the most of any conference.

THa tis just great. Such an amazing job by all.

I am curious. Tibbing had 7 goals, 17 points and 3 assists...??

Great way to end a special season by recognizing the play of both players and naming them to the All - American team and happily both will return next year .

6 Big East players selected on the three All America teams led by Georgetown with two on the first team, one on the second team along with two from Seton Hall and one from Marquette on the third team. Big East looks to be gaining momentum as a very good soccer conference and Seton Hall is part of that growth.

The Big East was always a very good soccer conference, no? Just because we struggled doesn’t mean everyone else did. Thankfully, it looks like we’re back where we belong!

The original BE Conference was a very good conference while the new BE has had some programs that were good like SJU but not the depth that we’re now seeing with SH making a comeback, GT a top 5 program and Marquette being in the top 25 .

Don’t count out Providence’s success either, and UConn was down this year but has the best history of any Big East program by far.

Good point about PC’s success in soccer . As to UConn I hadn’t followed them while they were in the AAC butI could see them turning out good teams in soccer.

UConn’s soccer history is legendary. They would routinely draw 4,000 or higher for every home game going back the 1980s. And back when ESPN started, since it was based in Connecticut, UConn soccer was a regular programming thing. They would have power teams from across the country come to Storrs and we’re pretty much untouchable within New England. They called themselves “America’s Team.” Joe Morrone coached them forever and was a legend. His successor, Ray Reid, came from the best D2 team in the state and carried on the success.

I remember Joe Morrone. They would host the Big East Soccer Tournament every year back then. We beat them there in the 1986 tournament championship game on either a miserable rainy day or just a real muddy field.
