Time to get ready for Kansas

Wont be surprised if we surprise.
Since everyone is bearish on the pirates like a stock thats usually the sign of a bottom...

Harris and Trey have to hit multiple 3’s each, Tyrese has to get a bunch of offensive rebound putbacks and Kadary has to get more than 1 driving/post up buckets.

Pretty much our only possibility to win against anybody, let alone Kansas.

This is not a vintage Kansas team. They’re young and have no bench. A new group. They won tight games with teams like NC State and Wisconsin who are good teams but not top tier, then got beat handedly by double-digits against Tennessee, a team who is very good IMO.

Unfortunately, this is not a vintage Seton Hall team either.

I have no idea what to expect. We’ve looked terrible for most of the game against the likes of Iowa and Oklahoma. I don’t think we’re good enough right now to walk into The Phog and beat them. I’ll do backflips if we do, lol. I also don’t know what kind of mindset we have with this team after Holloway’s postgame interview last night. Woof. Will that light a fire or crack?

If you can't get up to play Kansas at AFH, you're pretty much lifeless. I don't expect a win by any means, but I expect a much better effort and crisper play.
Me too. This is a nothing to lose game. House money for our guys. Also, this isn’t a vintage Kansas team yet. Self lost a lot and is molding those kids. They had close WS against Southern Utah, NC State and Wisco and a double digit loss to Tenn.

Multiple 3's? Harris couldn't even knock down 1 of 2 free-throws in crunch time against powerhouse Siena. I've historically been positive/optimistic about things with our teams but still a realist. My hopes aren't high.

It will be a reality check for our team. If we don't show up on Thursday in Kansas, expect a long long season. These are not the Seton hall pirates of 2017-2022.

As for the Kansas game Thursday I just want them to keep it within 20 points. Nothing crazy or embarassing. Put up a fight and look engaged.

Funny, my thoughts last night were on the guy who coached us those years.

No returning stars, no “facility,” no NIL $ brilliant move on KW’s part.

We also looked terrible against Memphis.

jumping ship wasnt the issue, jumping the ship before the season ended was.
Oh please you have guys here who the current coach says have no interest in playing. Maybe this was the issue with the TCU game not the coach out the door. Maybe some players were ready for the season to end. They didn't show up vs Georgetown, UConn, or TCU to end the year. Just like Sha didn't turn the ball over yesterday, neither did Willard turn the ball over as coach. Richmond went out in the Creighton game and we had no PG after that. Richmond got benched yesterday, same result we had no PG and it showed. We put up 55 on Siena. Imagine how many we would've put up on TCU yesterday. Probably 42 again.

I think we have to be realistic at this point. I would use this game as a great preparation for the Rutger’s contest a week later. Kansas has a tremendous home court although they might not be on their A game because of the way SHU are playing, I expect like a 78-62 loss something like that., The key is to keep it competitive at this point. Who knows what can happen? Like I said we may have a better chance at Rutgers gaining experience at Kansas.

We play like last night and Drexel will beat us. Last night wasn’t good and this situation with Sha and the players looks strange rn. Maybe we’ll respond. I hope so.

The goal is to get to 6-4 with 2 Q1 wins (Memphis, one of these road game) and 1 bad loss (Siena) in the non-con.

Add layups, shots in close, free throws.

So does a performance like we had in the tournament. See Marquette. So I guess that’s not embarrassing either.
I just don’t understand this. What’s the agenda for attacking Sha for this one game?

Embarrassing losses happen.

Amaker
Got waxed at Rutgers by 32. I sat in the middle of the RU student section as a frosh. Believe me…embarrassing.
He also lost to UNC by 30 and Valparaiso

Orr
Had some bad ones including losses to La Salle, IONA, Duke by 53, lost a home and home to Richmond, lost a home and home to Northwestern in which we averaged 43 points per game, UCONN by 42, and lost by 20 to Wichita St in a non-competitive NCCA game.

Gonzalez:
Lost to FDU, Oral Roberts, IUPUI, and the NIT fiasco vs Texas Tech

Willard:
Lost to Mercer, FDU, St Peter’s, Marquette by 20 in the BET, Nova by 36, Long Beach St, @ Nebraska by 23, @ Rutgers by 20, Creighton by 36, TCU by 27, the SJU Walsh game last year, and I will leave out the all the times we lost to DePaul.

You nailed it big guy. If you were fair you would have responded with this to the guy who said the loss wasn’t embarrassing. By your logic the loss the other day was embarrassing, move on. It happens. What’s the agenda to protect Sha? As you mentioned a lot of bad losses over the years. So either those losses weren’t embarrassing or Sundays was. Pick your thought process but be consistent.

Just curious where in my post do you see an attack on Sha? All I said is if you do not think the other night was embarrassing because it happens, well so does a loss like TCU happen.

For the record I don’t consider losing a basketball game bad to be embarrassing. If you play long enough you’re bound to have some wins and losses by large amounts. You’ll beat teams who are supposed to crush you and you’ll lose to teams you’re supposed to crush. That’s all part of the journey. But punches on the court are embarrassing. Not giving an effort that’s embarrassing. Losing itself happens. You want to talk about agendas….when someone says this coach is embarrassing for losing but that coach isn’t…that’s someone with an agenda. I might even say you have an agenda since you didn’t call out the person who said the loss wasn’t embarrassing when you clearly think it was. You could’ve told him your beliefs it was embarrassing but it happens.

It appears your agenda is to protect Sha at all costs, no?

And what is your agenda? I think the posters are only highlighting the fact that with every new coach there will be growing pains as it relates to team construction/talent level. Where I think criticism is valid is when you are speaking about coaching schemes/ in game lineup management or other aspects of the game that you can control.

If you have to ask that, you don’t know the level of idiocy this poster has brought to the board for 2-3 years. He knows praising Willard will get a rise out of some and they will fall right into the trap. Whether it’s Covid, fan attendance and performance of those fans there, or Willard vs. Sha, he has an m.o. and posters take the bait.
