I think the over under has been set at 3,000 fans. Giants and Jets both in action and in the playoff hunt, the weather is cold, 3pm game time and I have never been offered so many free Seton Hall tickets and parking passes in my life lol.

What will Wagner make ($$$) today playing at Walsh vs. if the game had been at the Rock? What did Monmouth and St. Peter's earn from their games with us?

I could use a parking pass today. Going to Alumni event early at Mercato

Rephrase! Hope you don't miss the game at The Rock today
They lose if they go to Walsh

Pretty sad if 1000 or more are students….

Not me. Didn’t see anyone bitching about Wednesday night against Monmouth. Would gladly take a weeknight against Wagner. Sunday afternoon is the pits. Take a look at the crowd today if you don’t believe me.

Anyone have a parking pass they're not going to use today? I usually take the PATH but not exactly thrilled with the idea of walking in this frigid windstorm.

Fine. Find a date that the arena is available that would have worked for both teams.

Keep in mind the travel that might be involved for both teams as well.

I asked a legitimate question in my original post. Please offer a legitimate solution.

When should they have played?

The arena was booked for Friday, Saturday and Monday. Night game? People would have bitched at that too.
People don't realize all the moving parts that go into this stuff. And especially when you are dealing with an arena that schedules numerous professional sports or entertainment-related events.

I always wonder why people mention the local football teams as excuses when they whine about game times or dates. Different sports, different kind of fan. Shouldn't really have any factor. Attendance will be down simply because it's Wagner, not Villanova.

Guys, nobody besides super fans or family is going to spend their time at a game like this. Especially in a world of inflation, I’m not spending money on gas, tolls, parking, tickets. Just to get home at 7pm on a cold Sunday to watch a glorified scrimmage.

That’s not true. If I had to choose between watching a big football game at home or tickets to a rather meaningless basketball game. I’m staying home and watching football.

If you don’t think football and basketball fans overlap, then I don’t know what to tell you. The only sports that normally don’t overlap are basketball and hockey. Two different type of fans. I’m here. Place is a morgue.

I did. You overlooked it. Wagner is a short bus ride away. Travel not an issue.

Real answer is this is a Walsh game. You can get away with opening night and the draw this year for St Peter’s. But no juice for this game.
I also think not just that we lost, but seeing how Iowa hammered us took a lot of juice out of things. Win by 18 over Iowa and there's some juice around this team. Lose by 18 and you get what you got today.

Guess I'm just speaking for myself then, so be it. Never been a fan of football - couldn't care less about the NFL or college football. Not a fan of the NBA. Only college basketball, although I have to admit my passion for that is slipping given how corrupt it has become.

That's not an answer that provides a solution. You brought up the issue, solve it. No big deal, right?

I agree that Sunday during football season stinks. But for me an SHU game is the right answer every time. For others it's not and that's fine too.

As for travel, we're going to Orlando and Kansas, why can't Wagner play road games there? There are so many moving parts in putting a schedule together it's not funny.

Honestly that's not the answer either. There's a reason we're gone to playing non D-I teams at Walsh and it has everything to do with $$$$$. Whatever the guarantee is for Wagner, we're not coming close to making it at Walsh.

The school doesn't really care if 5,500 are in Newark when the announced attendance is 8,811. That's eight times more than Walsh capacity.

I wouldn't worry too much about today's attendance. I actually thought the score would be closer. So, this was a real beatdown by SHU. Although it did not snow, it was a brutal weather day. Tough to get your tail to Newark and absorb the expense to see Wagner. In addition, both football teams playing somewhat important games at same time more or less. Students were terrific at the Iowa game, but the team stunk that night. On a very bad day this is what the attendance could look like. On a great night the upper deck is filled up. We have to be realistic and shoot for that 8000 to 10,500 range for most games.
