Nova played exactly how we prayed they would. Quiet from deep, asleep for a lot of the first half, deadest crowd for a major top ten program I've ever heard. Our defense was incredible all night, but our terrible free throw & 3 pt shooting coupled with a lot of bullshit from the refs doomed us. Damn shame bc this was very very winnable.

Nothing to be ashamed of for our guys or Willard...but they MUST improve from the stripe. Who knows what could have happened if they were able to keep it closer for longer...

Thing is...we got it close fairly late. It was 47-45, i blinked, and it was a 10 pt game. Not a discouraging game necessarily, but the "free game" is over. We need to beat creighton saturday or we will start digging a big hole we may never get out of.

Good point Piratz. Have to think that we are one of the youngest teams in the league with all underclassmen starters and other than transfers (Gordon, Anderson) reserves. If we can keep this together, I like our chances going forward.

Completely agree with everything here. the boxing out was garbage.

Along with the poor free throws, Delgado, Ish & Desi underperformed. Angel especially. The one thing I noticed was that Arch rarely guarded IW or KC. Once he picked up his 3rd foul, I would have liked Willard to try & isolate him inside. I also thought Veer & Nzei should have seen more playing time.

You are spot on. Those refs sucked tonight. I saw a few plays where our players got hacked and no call. I did see one they didn't call on us at the end of the night but it was too late.

The guys played the best they could in that morgue. Our defense was good but need to continue to work on it. Hopefully in February the defense will be better than what we saw today.

Outside of IW and maybe Singh, I think the rest of the team didn't play well. Too many forced layups trying to get fouled as opposed to just trying to hit the shot. Also, there big man is a true center and Delgado got a bit exposed as not being able to handle a physical 5. Not sure if he was intimidated or just couldn't physically handle him, but he was way too quiet on the boards.

Regardless, we played tough and had a good shot of winning but Nova just made the runs and played shut down d when it counted.

I was at the game. Tons of joke main line home grown calls in 2nd half. Unreal. The Nova fans are jokes n think they are good, they are not. Those fans need a reality check. Hall wins by 12 in Newark no doubt.

Arch's flop on that 3 was classic nova and I thought a game changer. Kevin went nuts. The ref was the only guy in the gym who thought that was a foul. BUT he's the only one who mattered.
It's like watching duke light with all the embellishing.
Also their star recruit Brunson got completely pushed around all game. What a difference a year makes IW and KC made him look like a freshman.

Tough game, but they hung in there and battled until the end. Their second chance points killed us - they had something like 18 offensive rebounds. Lots of long rebounds on missed threes that kept ending up in their hands. Ochefu was a beast inside and we got a combined 11 points out of Desi and Angel. Tough to win without those guys contributing more on the offensive end.

I came away from this game feeling pretty good though. In the past, with all of the early turnovers, we could have seen this game slip away before halftime. The team battled back, played excellent defense, and was in it until Carrington picked up his 4th and had to come out of the game.

My only issue would be that sometimes our offense is stagnant and depends solely on Whitehead or Carrington going 1-on-1, but I think Desi and Angel's off nights made the 1-on-1 play almost a necessity. Either way, you can't hang your head after this one.

Up by two then they went to the foul line like 10 times in a row. Killed our momentum, our rhythm and it killed the game. Pat Driscoll sucks.
