Way too many posts to respond to this morning. When I finally got to my seat SHU was already down 10 points. They looked completely disjointed and overmatched. Marquette looked like a well oiled machine and The Hall not so much.
I guess we've played worse at a Bigeast Tournament, but I just couldn't remember that game. This was a no-show and that's inexcusable at this point in the season. We are now the worst team in the Bigeast by the end of this season in my opinion.
We are a bad basketball team because of missing parts(RECRUITING). We have had 4 guys play the point this season and yet not one of them was a "True" PG that can totally dictate the offense. IW is probably the best of the group, but is not there yet. Carrington has potential for this, but has to mature physically to play on this level. We're not awful there, but it's not high caliber BigEast right now. So right off the bat the offense has issues.
We have talent for sure, but Delgado needs work on both ends of the court. He's one of the best players on the team and even he has huge deficiencies in his game. Is he a true 5?? Again, not awful, but not high caliber Bigeast at this point. Don't get me wrong this is a fantastic rebounder and a player that can become dominant with proper instruction.
Gibbs wore down for the 2nd consecutive year. Way too much is asked of him in the OOC and bulk of the Conference schedule. That was a no-show by him last night. It looked like he packed it in several games ago. That was troubling to watch at MSG.
I don't want to criticize the players individually. The coaching is the issue along with past recruiting years. How could Sanogo, Manga and Ajou not get some minutes there? It felt like we lost by 30 or 40 anyway. Terrible job by the coaching staff last night. Somewhat clueless in the 2nd half at minimum. I'll have a separate post about the Coaching Situation. There were more SHU fans at The Garden than you would believe and I saw a lot of sad and disillusioned faces.
