The article on KC reminded me of two players everyone should be aware of. Our travel team played against two potential recruits in the class of 2024 that we thought were very good. They play for independent programs and not for sneaker teams, so they may not get the notoriety that others might.
The first is a familiar name. 6'6 wing Chike Ndefo from Vermont Academy. Yes, he's the brother of KC. And yes, the 6'6 height is legit. Strong, athletic player who can change the game on the defensive end. He can cover every position 1-5. Watch the kid's tape, it's insane. The blocks and the dunks are startling. He's more skilled than KC and is more comfortable on the perimeter, but still developing that aspect of his game. Huge upside. Not sure what offers he has yet, but I believe Siena just offered. I hope we recruit him.
The other kid is 6'7 wing Malik Abdullahi from Columbus HS in Florida. He plays with the Boozer brothers. Pretty much the same deal as Ndefo. Really athletic and can cover five positions. Skilled lefty with range to the three point line, and can create for himself and others. His recruitment is starting to really take off, as he has quite a few offers at the mid major level. Watch the film, it's very impressive.
Both of these kids can play at the Big East level in my mind. Play super hard and desperately want to win. Strong academically and really good kids. They can help build the culture for the program for years to come. Just very underrated. And with the NIL reality, we need to get the under recruited player who can develop into a star and be loyal enough to stick with the program when they invariably achieve a high level of success.
