The coordinator who had used racist tone and language in past stays on staff, has salary reduced by 500k and is no longer head coach designate...

I would have bought him out and sent him on his way

two former players reported that, prior to 2013, Scalley used the words "Black ass" when addressing a player during practice and several former players reported that Scalley made comments about their appearance that they believed to be rooted in racial stereotyping. One former player said that, prior to 2013, Scalley used a racial slur towards him, though no one else could corroborate this allegation. Scalley denied all of those accusations.

Based on this information, I'm glad he wasn't fired. Seems like this is an overreaction to something said many years ago during an intense practice.

Are you old enough to remember a white baseball coach at oklahoma when describing his best player who was AA saying there is "no n*gger in him"?

Never heard of that. If that happened, I think that coach should be relieved of his duties.
