Vince Nicastro resigned but will remain at the school as associate director of the Jeffrey Moorad Center for Sport Law.

was he the guy who went right after Jay Wright when Jay was in play way back when? Whoever it was, Nova owes quite a bit to him for the foresight.

There are a few versions of the story. Vince Nicastro played a role but probably did not lead the charge. Folks were not happy with Lappas as the program was losing momentum to put it politely. Jay decided it was time to move from Hofstra to a bigger venue and was interviewing with Tennessee and Rutgers. As he got into discussions with the Rutgers AD, Bob Mulcahy (a Nova alum) he added the qualifier that if the Villanova job opened up he would take it. It is said that Rollie Massimino was golfing with some influential alumni and told them they were missing the opportunity to get Wright. Pressure was put on the administration and they even got the ex-Villavona AD, Gene Difilippo involved. He had moved on to BC and helped Lappas move to the UMass.

Probably a longer story than you wanted to hear but "yes" getting Jay Wright was huge.
