  • Seton Hall currently sits in first place in the BIG EAST with a conference record of 13-3, two games ahead of 11-5 Creighton and 11-5 Villanova.
  • After St. John’s defeated Creighton on Sunday afternoon, Seton Hall clinched at least a share of the BIG EAST regular season championship, the program’s first since 1993.
  • If the Pirates win one of their final two games, they will claim the regular season championship outright.

INSIDE THE SERIES: VILLANOVA

  • Seton Hall will face Villanova for the 119th time on Saturday.
  • Villanova is Seton Hall’s most frequently played opponent in program history.
  • Wednesday will be the second time that both teams will play one another while ranked in the AP Top-25.
  • The first meeting was this season when the No. 12 Pirates defeated No. 10 Villanova, 70-64, giving the program its first win over the Wildcats on their home floor since 1994.
  • The two schools have had some classic games recently in the BIG EAST Tournament where the last four meetings have been decided by two points or fewer.

  • Seton Hall ranks 12th in the NET with a 10-5 record against “Quad 1” opponents and a combined 15-7 record vs. “Quad 1” and “Quad 2” opponents.
  • The Hall’s 15 combined Q1 and Q2 wins are tied for second in the country with Baylor.
  • Seton Hall leads the country with seven Q1 road wins.
  • Seton Hall’s KenPom rating is 13 with a defensive efficiency rating that ranks 16th in the country.

  • Senior All-America candidate Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) is averaging 21.5 points per game, an average that ranks 10th in Division I and second in the BIG EAST, and he’s averaging 23.1 points in the 24 games he’s been able to finish.
  • At Providence (2/15/20), Powell moved past Jeremy Hazell (2,146) for third on Seton Hall’s all-time scoring list.
  • At No. 10 Villanova (2/8/20), Powell became the program’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made, passing Hazell (328).
  • Against St. John’s (1/18/20), Powell became only the fifth Seton Hall player to score 2,000 points (Greg Tynes, Jeremy Hazell, Nick Werkman, Terry Dehere) and the sixth player to score 1,000 points in BIG EAST games (Dehere, Hazell, Mark Bryant, Andre McCloud, Khadeen Carrington).
  • Powell has been named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20, the Oscar Robertson Award Midseason Watch List, Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, a Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Top 10 Finalist and a Senior CLASS Award Top 10 Finalist.
  • At the Battle 4 Atlantis, Powell set the single-tournament scoring record with 74 total points and he registered the third-most points scored in a B4A contest with his 32-point performance vs. Oregon (11/27/19).
  • Powell is steadily making his way up Seton Hall’s all-time scoring and three-point charts.
