I know this was a weekday 10 PM EST start not many could follow, so being on the west coast, figured I'd let you all know what stood out from tonight's game from a Trove perspective.

Final Score: 70 - 53 'Merica

Myles Powell: 31:57 MP, 30 PTS*, 12/18 FG, 9/9 2PT FG, 3/9 3P FG, 3/3 FT , +12 +/-

*Two Other Players in double figures for US: Geoff Groselle (Creighton '16) 11 PTS
Alpha Diallo 10 PTS

Myles Cale: 1:03 MP, -2 +/-

1. This game was much different than the first. They are playing against grown physical Men who practice together year round. More of the same coming as the tournament progresses. This experience will help every player on the roster tremendously and the Big East as a whole.

2. Pardon My Gushing, but if you watched this whole game like I did, you would be giddy.

Powell's offensive game is even more well rounded. Maybe its that there is more talent around him, maybe he's improved in some areas, but it was clear. He wasn't red hot from three for much of the game (outside an absurd fall down pull up towards the end of the third) but mid range shots, shot creation for teammates, and some hard drives paired with a few circus finishes told his story.

That being said, he took over like we've seen so many times when it got close (lead was 5) in the fourth. He did everything from drawing double teams and and still draining clutch threes (one 4 point) to creating for teammates. He was the best player on the court and the team likely loses without him. It is going to be a special year for him.

3. Speaking of great players for USA tonight, Providence is going to be tougher than most predict this year. Diallo seems to have gotten even stronger in transition and Duke Jr. is going to be a monster next year.

4. Cale didn't play much as it was a competitive game, the boys are there to win and its clear hes not part of the main rotation. The talk of balanced minutes went out the window as soon as the ball went up.

5. Venezuela is one of the better teams in the tournament. These guys could bring home USA's first Pan Am Basketball Gold since Jordan's squad of 1983.... And Powell will be the star. Talk about a big marketing point for the Big East and SHU.

6. With that in mind. These games are a lot of fun (especially tonight's which was exclusively Spanish commentary), tune in. Next is Fri night 10 PM EST on ESPNU, you won't regret it.
