Experience is not helping. Whats next? Upgrade talent? IQ? Coaching?

I think everyone knows it’s going to take time for guys to learn new system and adjust. But I didn’t think we would look this bad offensively. Kinda miss the weave lol

Another team w out a BE center. Femi and KC on offense is like playimg 5 on 3

One thing is clear to me is that we are a different team when Tyrese is not on the floor as we have no backup center on the roster other than a walk-on. Yetna not a true center but better than what we have so hopefully he will heal soon.

Jamir on offense is a better spot up shooter vs off the dribble and rushed

The offense is sloppy but not getting stops when we need them most is infuriating. It felt like we wanted to get on a run but couldn’t get that stop. Finally, got the stop and turned it over with a bad outlet pass. New team. Early season. All good. What a win!

We were this and that. We cant x or w. So and so and his bro all played badly.

We won the opening game of the tourney. Game over. No consolidation.

Saw us play these games well before and lose. We played badly and won. Which i prefer.

No one played close to their ability cept maybe davis. Ugly offense. Hugely bad passes at bad times. Shot poorly from 1, 2 and 3. Lets play better tomorrow.

New players, new coaches, takes time to put it all together especially when you play a solid defensive team like Memphis.

But Odukale's cross-court pass that got intercepted for a layup almost cost us the game. That is not what you expect from an upper-classman.
That was an awful pass. He should not be handling the point only in a pinch.

Agreed, but the missed early free throws were willard for sure :)

Exactly, saw the same thing over and over for 10 years but you couldn't say a bad word on this board. And now after 5 games with new players and new coaches, some are ripping the coach and players????

Well unfortunately in this current NCAA climate you will have so much turnover in personnel I am not sure how you will ever really build solid cohesion. It seems like an aberration when a player will spend all four years at one school.

Experience means little if hardly anybody has played together before. Too many new pieces -- including the coach.

You're looking for continuity that we simply don't have right now. The one team that we played that had that type of continuity had the lead on us for the last 31 minutes of the game.

Be thankful we won on Thursday and hope we play better on Friday.

A exciting win but also a lucky one with TS banking a 3 pointer at the buzzer.

We are a very good defensive team but an offensively challenged team. Its not the system but rather the players. Can you see anyone averaging 15+ points this year? There's not an all BE player on the roster filled with scrappy defensive players.

We don't have a center and either is Yetna. Why is KR not running the point for the entire game? He's the best passer we have.

I just love that the kids had their moment at the end after Tyrese hit that three pointer. Running onto the court and tackling him in a pike of joy. A nice reward early in the season for all of the hard work they have put in.

The offense is not playing at a consistent tempo right now. Way too fast and lack of consistent with ball movement. Yetna is by far the best rebounder even if he’s not a prototype center.

It’s not only about how experienced a player is but how good are his basketball skills , how disciplined he is and how basketball smart he is.

Early season game between two good defensive teams that speed the opposing offenses up. That accounts for turnovers and sloppy play.

Still, for SHU they have to do a much better job of valuing the ball. That to me so far has been the most disappointing aspect to date.

Weird game. SHU led most of the first half and finished down 1. Memphis led for most of the second half and lost the game by 1.

I wonder why Sha doesn’t run better offensive sets. He has some but not the quality of St Peters. I will say I am surprised to see so much negativity on the board after a great win that we really needed. We have won big games in the past with horrible offense Everyone remembers the last closing min of Kentucky when Myles goes off but most of the game was full of both teams missing shots left and right. Sometimes it is like that early on but the team never quit and each time they step on the court is a learning experience.

I think much of the negativity was in game and it was pretty warranted the second half. I think Kadary sat too long with 3 fouls, the turnovers are numerous and frustrating and we really gritted (and lucked) our way to a win.

Very happy with the result, not so happy with some of the game management, our offensive skill set and dumb mistakes.

Take the win, keep improving.

I would say with st petes the talent was lesser and they had to run sets to score.

I’ve said this point before, and for some it may be a sobering thought. This team may not fully hit its stride until Big East play. And what I mean by that is they’ll win some, lose some and then you’ll see a solid winning streak or 8-10 game stretch in conference ball. If not its going to be an up and down year. Lots of new parts including the staff.

I can’t articulate how big of a deal it was they didn’t even have 10 guys practicing due to injuries in the preseason. In year 1 of a new coaching regime. And thats with an offense that was never a perfect fit on paper.

The offensive efficiency numbers for St Peter’s were never that high. They ran some good stuff, but the efficiency wasn’t always there, especially in November.

You can't just throw together players with experience and wonder why it looks rough at the start. They need to practice, play together, time.

For the past two months Holloway has been telling everyone that this group is nowhere near ready because they haven't been able to practice together. It shows offensively. The team is very, very sloppy with the ball right now. But at least it moves, LOL.

We are not near our peak yet. I saw so many needless turnovers ( Richmond getting called for walk and later stepping out of bounds) and mistakes like Ndefo made with giving up a rebound on missed foul shot. There were many more, but these things hopefully improve as the season goes on.
