According to NCAA bracket guy ,Joe Lunardi has Seton Hall in along with Villanova ,Xavier,Providence,. Not Geprgetown so far ? Will there be only 4 teams from BE this year ? Last year there were 6 BE teams in the NCAAs. Don't know what selection committee will do ? Think there should be 5 in tourney ? In the next 4 games we can not falter., We have to and should beat Marquette at home . And also beat Butler ( not having a good year) . Can not afford to lose those games . Then we play Georgetown twice in 2 weeks . Have to win at least one and possibly 2 against Georgetown . I know all BE contests are important ,but our season and Georgetown's may be on the line especially if the NCAA committee selects only 4 BE teams .

Gotta believe there will be 5 BE teams in NCAAs? No matter, It is the same old story in sports ,you play it one game at a time and don't look past anybody.

Sweep MU, StJ, DePaul ... Split wit GTown and Butler ... Win either X/Prov.

6-3 we are Dancing easy.

10 BE wins and Seton Hall is in.

9 and it could go either way.

Since I've been sitting in the seats for games, I've never yet witnessed a 9-9 or better season. So if this actually happens, it will be an important milestone.

It's been 10 years, BP. We have not had a winning conference record since Louis Orr pulled the trick off in his final season, 2005-06. That team went 9-7, but was one-and-done at MSG in the BET despite getting into the NCAA Tournament. The last time we've been there as well.

The past 10 years has been our worst stretch in the Big East Era.

Piratz, I started going to games with Mrs BP regularly in 2004-2005 season, if memory does not fail, but at that time, I was an uneducated and ignorant observer so I was not really tuned into the meaning and nuances of the data.

Now, I'm just ignorant. :D

I honestly think 4 more wins and we are dancing. The field includes 68 friggin teams! There will be other schools sweating more than a 9-9 Big East team with our resume on selection Sunday.

May not matter. I'm starting to think that it is more likely that this Seton Hall team gets to 10 or 11 wins by the end of the regular season.

If WSU closes out its season strong, that win looks even better.

Get to 10-8. We're halfway there. And we have the next 3 at home. Statement time.

Don't leave anything up to chance at 9-9 with pressure at MSG. We have a good profile right now, but need more and it needs to be locked up and not left to the whims of the Selection Committee or conference tournament upsets.

Seton Hall
15-6, 5-4 (4-3 on road)
KenPom = #31
RPI = #46, including 2-3 vs. Top 50, 4-5 against Top 100
Good wins = #45 Wichita State, at #23 Providence

Creighton (#103) is actually outside the Top 100 right now because their non-conference is so weak. Marquette (#112) is outside of it as well.

Georgia (#75) is our third-best win.

The past 10 years has been our worst stretch in the Big East Era.

That year was my freshman year at the Hall. I remember thinking while charging the court after beating WVA in that snowstorm, that this would be a fun ride. Over ten years later, three coaches, missed recruits, missed opportunities, and heartache I have learned from my young naivety.

We desperately need some success and I will be extremely disappointed if this team does not finish. We have a real opportunity here to change the complexion of this university and program for not just this year but moving forward. Talent and skill is there we just have to finish.

It's not the best 68 teams. There are only 36 at large bids and 32 automatic bids. Remember there are usually about 20 or so 1 bid conferences (i.e. not top 68 team). In reality the tournament only includes the top ~45 teams.

No guarantees with 9 plus BE tourny games to go but I definately like the way we're heading.

I will go with five bids. Really doubt conference gets six. Three locks (nova, Xavier and friars). 2 of 5 between Hall, Georgetown, Butler, Creighton and Marquette Hall is at top of the list of five as of now. Marquette on bottom. Must get 2 out of next three to stay on right side of bubble.

The Committee usually puts emphasis on being able to win away from home, so having at least two top-50 road wins should be the difference maker if we do end up at 9-9 in the league.

But it really shouldn't come down to that. We're 5-4, through the hardest part of the schedule, and have three home games in a row (and will be favored in all of them). That's an inside track. Just play well at home and beat the teams we're better than, and this drought comes to an end.

My thoughts too with only three locks.

We need to finish strong because I think BE might only sneak in four. My thoughts on why is:
  • ACC might get 9 teams in
  • Big Ten has to get it quota
  • Big 12 is 5 deep
  • Pac 12 has 11 of the 12 teams in the top 75 RPI, so figure they will get a strong number
  • SEC is a potential 4 - 6 bid
  • A-10, who has been better in the tournament then the BE the past few years, might get 3 to 4
Besides taking care of our own business, we need Wichita St. to keep doing what they are doing and hope they win the MVC, Ole Miss and Georgia to make a run, and hope that teams in the major conferences beat up each other and lower the number of potential bids.

We can legitimately be 10-8 in conference, with 4 or 5 of those wins being road wins. We do that and win one in the BE tournament and/or beat either Xavier/Providence at home, I think we are on the right sid eof the fence.

Northern Iowa not so good this year. Maybe wsu ends the season with our loss being their last one.

Providence so far and who else? Not even a current top 50 road game left on the schedule.

The way road teams have overwhelmingly won in the BE this year others will have that too.

This is a completely different team from last year. This is a completely different coach from last year. This is a much more mature group this year. With all that being said, when we flipped the calendar last year we are at an extremely similar spot, 5-4 and just took care of a team that destroyed us earlier in the year. No reason we can't get the job done this year. But make no mistake about it there needs to be tremendous focus the rest of the way. This is the big east and just about any night we can win or be beaten. So if we don't bring our A game or forget team ball as more and more people take notice of us, we could be in for a miserable month. But I like this team and I really believe this team is different. Let's make February the month we earned a great NCAA seed as opposed to just did enough to make the tournament or worse.
