We cannot do it without PirateNation

Is the school doing anything other than sending tweets and buying students coffee to promote this game? Not calling them out, I'm just curious if there has been any other creative marketing to get both students and alumni to the game.

How are ticket sales looking? Have no idea if the Noon tip helps or hurts.

I should add the throwback theme to what they are doing as well. Long overdue but better late than never.

The school is doing its part. The fan base needs to show up and make noise. This is exactly the type of game that we having been pining for many years.

Yea, I wasn't doubting that or trying to call them out, was just s curious if anything else was going on behind the scenes. This is such a pivotal game that I feel like the marketing program should be going all in to fill the seats. A throw-back t-shirt giveaway for example.

In any event, love the whole throw-back thing. Not sure how much that resonates with the students, but clearly should with the alumni who remember those teams.

You can't start a marketing campaign two days before the game. We should have been pushing this game all season. The best OOC game in more than a decade and the game is on national tv. We knew this months ago.

Guys we can't get too consumed with the promotion at this point. This is a game where the fans and students that are there have to become a factor. I can't see less than 6000 in the building and probably no more than 8000, someplace in there I suspect. You may even see a fair amount of Wichita St. fans floating around the building.

I believe our fanbase doesn't really know what this team is or can be. You don't have that buzz around the program like you had with the super Freshman coming in last year. This is a great opportunity to get that excitement back against a top notch program.

I'm sure that Athletic Dept has done everything they could have to promote this including the throwback uniforms.

The players MUST do their part on Saturday. The fans will be onboard, but the team has to be on a mission.

Far too often throughout the last 15 years our fans have been on board and our players seem to be in another world. In fact, many times over the past 15 years it seems as if our fans in the arena cared more about the game than the players on the court.

Those outings, which happen far too often at SHU, never help with the morale of the fans.

In all honesty, I'm expecting one of those games.

However, I won't be able to attend or even watch now as I have a funeral to attend tomorrow.

There were two potential big time OOC games this year the first being a potential game with UVA at Charleston and then the WSU game. This Board has been talking about the WSU game since the summer and it has been out there for months as a big time test for us and there has been a marketing effort longer then the two days you suggest. There have been ads in the Ledger run by Ticketmaster and other promotions by the school about this game. I see SH doing a much better marketing job over the past few years and while it's not perfect it's a hell of a lot better then it was.

Noon.. Saturday before Christmas? Not expecting a great turnout....hope students at least show.

Hope I'm proven wrong

The potential UVA game wasn't a home game. This is our biggest home game since Texas in 2004.

If you have seen this game advertised in the paper and other forms of media, that's fantastic news. I personally have not which is why I was concerned.

Students just finished 3 days of finals, most teachers who have them on the monday tuesday usually just do them in class. once finals are done the students book it home.

might be a weak turnout for students

Lol. PiratePride what would be the ideal date and time for a big non-conference game.
It's a weekend, students are still on campus, your not competing with any big football games, we're on major network tv, and the weather is nice...

Other teams that chose to hold a big non-conference game saturday early afternoon before christmas
UVA vs Nova.Oklahoma vs creighton. VCU vs Ohio St. Purdue vs Butler. Xavier vs Auburn. 2 big early afternoon games at MSG and Barclay's as well.

I fully expect the student section to be packed and loud. The rest of us need to join and get loud. Let's Go Pirates!

There are still a lot of tickets available in the corners. I agree with a post above - for the biggest OOC game in a long time there was apparently very little done to get people out to the game or the program has no juice or a little of both.

FYI....Was told by somebody who works at Prudential Center that there were only 6,200 seats sold as of Thursday night.

6000 would be fine as long as everyone shows up. I think we've sold about that for every game this year. The issue is paid vs actual.

I listen to all the arguments carefully and with respect.

All I have got is that Mrs BP and I will be in our seats rooting!
