Well this isnt very holy

Wsou has had this format for 30 years plus...always a back and forth on lyrics what a band represents
I won't be back and forth on this. If this is allowed, my contribution to Hillsdale will include what I normally would have given to SHU.

Excellent article. Time for Seton Hall's administration to wake up. A large proportion of Seton Hall's alumni will not give a dime to the university because of the long-running satanic music format at WSOU. I cannot tell you how much it has tarnished the university's reputation.

In the spiritual realm that format is extraordinarily harmful to souls and offensive to our Lord.

It has not tarnished the reputation...this is a lot like Miami football program at The U in the 80s, it brought the school great notoriety while there were some college boys will be college boys scenarios applications and enrollment went up in great part due to the football team; wsou for the most part has had a consistent format for 130 plus hours a week and in this market is one of the most tenured formats without change for over 30 years...loud music doesn't mean bad music are there some extreme bands and song lyrics sure but one apple shouldn't spoil the bunch...others on here would know more about bands etc, let me tell you this from days after 9/11, I cant tell you how many nyfd and nypd members called in asking for certain bands and songs to be played that they grew up in the last 10-12 years listening to on that station, there is a band from Auburn, NY been around since 1980, known as ManOWar had an album come out in June of 2002 Warriors of the World go watch or listen to the song Warriors of the World and The Fight for Freedom, inspirational songs, heavy, power metal, played on WSOU. There are going to be extremes but every handful of years there are Catholic extremists and the most far right in the Newark Archdiocese that want to strike up like we are living in society in the 40s or 50s and just like everything else IT IS TIME TO EVOLVE

Yeah, that Marconi award in 2016 (and being a top 5 finalist for the award again this past year) for being the top college radio station in the country, that’s really gotta hurt the reputation of the university and turn people away from applying! Oh wait...

Radios have dials people! If you don’t like what you are listening to the change the station! Do you know how many successful alumni we have because of WSOU!? Do you people think before posting some of this stuff?

The Marconi award was given because the secular establishment knows they are defying the ethos of their institution. WSOU has some very talented students but it is quite deficient in many ways as a radio station, certainly not one of the best college radio stations in the nation in my opinion. Even if it had high production quality, which it doesn't, its predominant music format is so harmful to the university.

Gasligting post, pot meet kettle

GWAR has been around at least since I was in high school 30 years ago, and I always took them as kind of a tongue-in-cheek act, a sort of comic/horror/sci-fi performance art act not to be taken seriously.

In looking at their other "most popular" stories on their site, this TPF organization sounds like another grievance-based group of culture warriors that bases its entire existence on a handful of lines in Leviticus, about the same number of words devoted to how you shouldn't eat pork or shellfish.

Silly. Just look away, from TPF and GWAR. Nothing to see here.

Based on what industry standard radio/audio production and programming development background experience, which I presume you have none of, can you just spurt out a blanket statement that the students there don't put out a high production quality? You cant judge that. Don't diminish the product because you don't like how it tastes. You are just like some random person on social media nowadays puts out a reactionary impulse opinion because it is con to your pro and it without justified merit and credibility. I will now go with my day being a productive member of society. Cheers

Wonder what @Bobbie Solo knows of the production quality

Aside from my production experience at the American Broadcasting Company, I listen to the product, as anyone else can. You entered ad hominem territory very rapidly. Conceptual arguments are best.

Though I have some concerns about TFP's founder in Brasil, they are not fundamentalists. The American branch are just devout Catholics, very devoted to Our Lady.

My years of work in the ministry of exorcism were quite eye opening. I categorically contend that music can have spiritual power, either evil or good. The kind of music being played on WSOU empowers the evil spirits.

GWAR is a goof and your assessment is spot on.

In the words of a current Minnesota congresswoman, "It's all about the Benjamins."

This situation is eerily similar to the NBA and China, principles be damned, it’s all about the benjamins. I don’t have problem with it as long as the perpetrators are honest about it. And they never are, sanctimonious jerks.

You were at abc? What capacity? Were you there when it was abc inc? Under cap cities control or Disney?

Good afternoon to all.

This story about WSOU is truly regrettable and concerning. Why should a recognized radio station of a Catholic institution of higher learning go to this extreme? Is it necessary?

Just as Mother Seton envisioned, our School shall always be a place where all are welcome to embark on an amazing academic experience, while having the blessing of doing so in a Catholic institution of higher learning. Our Catholic Faith that may be strengthened while studying at Seton Hall, will provide every student with the guidance for a successful and meaningful life. That being said, in such a setting, there shall be no acceptance/promotion of what has been alluded to (would this be imposed on a university/school associated with another religious creed?). This is not about better understanding another faith, be it either christian or not (which is something that should ALWAYS be pursued), while learning the value of respect and tolerance for others (which shall be an objective of ALL of US associated with this University in one way or the other). What is happening here (the promotion of Satanic beliefs and total disdain for Christianity, even if in a fun or allegedly harmless way) is something that should be provided no space, nor be legitimated by the Administration at Seton Hall. Anything different will run totally counter to the mission and the reason for being of our University as founded by Mother Seton in the mid-XIXth Century.

May the Lord guide us always, and bless all at Seton Hall.
Son of Joe Seton ‘49

I get the feeling Source's description of this band is closer to reality than catholicman's. The references to satanism make you sound silly.

Seton75 was it your son that was in a band? Are they still together? How are they doing?

About to hop on another big tour, this one a bit of a monster, hitting B market arenas with A Day To Remember & Beartooth. Both bands are just ok to me, but they are big. Been doing solid tours for a while now. So it seems to me that Can't Swim is in great shape atm. 75, confirm?

Yes, they are doing real well. Been around the country about 10 times and in Europe about 8...NICE LIFE...A tour with Enter Shakari ended yesterday, and they are joining A Day to Remember's tour next week, playing some really big places, like Mohegan Sun. Cant Swim is the name of the band. And, they are releasing an EP on Friday that is far more hardcore (hardcore is the style of music favored by SOU btw for all you non heathens) than ever before. lol

Very good very good wishing continued longevity and success https://www.cantswimmusic.com/news

Me and Seton75 crowdsurf at their shows.
Now that will get me there...

My brother knew nothing about Seton Hall. When I applied there, he said "hey, isn't that where they have Pirate radio?" Been listening to "that music" among other genres ranging from classical to punk to alternative to country to hardcore all my life. Managed to try to add more to society than taken. Yet to ritualistically murder any animals or people to date, though I can't make promises as the dark lord speaks to me through music.
