Sure, Marquette got a bad whistle and surprisingly poor games from their bigs, but SHU doesn't just come into a decent Golden Eagle road game & win by 20 unless they perform really well. We were still VERY sloppy for most of the game & that will not win games against the top 4 of the conference, but the POISE we showed throughout the game was shocking to me. No crumbling. Really good defense & rebounding to support us through the dry spells in the offense. And then the offense would come back in diverse ways throughout. Some post scoring, some dribble drive, some tough 3's.
And from what it looked like on TV, Willard stayed energetic throughout. Him cursing at the guys with 4 minutes to go was awesome. Damn right...this is NOT the time to be f%#&ing tired! I don't want a Gonzo Pt 2, but I don't want Orr out there either.
Now Whitehead just needs to keep working through this bad shot/crazy passing thing he's been doing, and we can then be deadly. If he turns into the dominant player he obviously can be...watch out.
