Certainly not at the game and the result was one sentence on the last page of their sports section. This while sending 2 writers to watch Rutgers beat a DIII team and then writing an article on page 1.

Also no mention of the women's victory while of course a small section on the Rutgers women's game.

Also, the Ledger sent reporters to both the Rutgers men's and women's soccer games. Highlighting them over the 1 sentence story about our game on the last sports page.

Clearly as far as the Scarlet Ledger is concerned there is only one school worth covering in the state.

Kudos to Carino and Pelzman who were at the game doing what the Ledger chooses not to do.

I have subscribed to the Star-Ledger for the last 50 years. Since they no longer give The Hall adequate cover, I'm cancelling my subscription today.

People have been saying this for years! Sorry but you were always excusing this behavior because you said we had to 'win', this despite the fact that we have and always will be better than Rutgers. We won but Rutgers got the coverage. The Ledger is going down the crapper because of this. If you want to cover losers like RU don't be surprised when you become a loser like RU! There is nothing to be gained by covering a school like RU THAT no one knows or cares about.

Gee , is there still a newspaper in circulation by that name. I cancelled my subscription over a year and a half-ago .

We finally unsubscribed as well. What a nice savings in the pocket not to mention reducing the recycling weight. It had become the Nelson Muntz of journalism.

And I'm sorry too because your memory seems to be failing you. Never once said that.

In fact a couple of years ago the Star Ledgers sports editor and I went one on one on this very topic here before his backing out of our agreement for him to respond to my questions. Did it twice and then ignored any communications with me after those two questions.

TRY AGAIN!

who cares? Print is practically dead. Did they throw something up on nj.com? I'm sure they did.

I could care less about reporters being at sporting events. the only problem with print media/broadcast news dying is the lack of investigate journalists covering the real issues in the country and world. Sports are irrelevant.

The loss of investigative journalism is something that worries me too.

Having delivered the paper back in the mid 1970's and read it until the late 1990's, I haven't purchased a hard copy of the Star Ledger in 15+ years.

True , unbiased investigative reporting is a shadow of its former self and far too often it's reflects
a preconceived bias and that goes for both the print and broadcast media.

The Record has always been good to us...
Can't always get it in Essex County.
Danny, for yrs I advocated that the Star Ledger anoint Michael Moretti[a sports beatwriter of theirs], and an old friend I haven't seen in yrs, a Bloomfield guy whom I'm sure you know, to cover all Shall athletics. He would have been a natural to c over the local Essex Cty Division 1 Univ. But, to our regret, this newspaper has chosen to align itself with Rutgers as the local college home team. This paper is obviously intoxicated with the hope that Rutgers will eventually become a force in Big 10 FB. That's all nice, but what about the rest of us? Not everybody around here is a Rutgers grad

I have no problem with their coverage of Rutgers. It's the state school and the only one that plays D1 football in a power 5 conference.

My issue is their coverage of SHU, particularity SHU basketball. It's a joke and when I took on their sports editor a few year back after his saying it wasn't and agreeing to take questions from me which I posted on this board, he backed out after just two questions because clearly he knew he was proven wrong and couldn't properly respond.

BTW, yes on Mike. Know him well as we graduated from BHS the same year.

He covered all our sports there for the school's newspaper and that where I first met him.

Great guy who would have done a super job for the Hall and the Ledger.
