Whitehead Hints At Future Next Year

Helluva article. Pretty level headed and definitely committed to his teammates.

He's got the right attitude/approach. Wish nothing but the best for him.

Whitehead, hart, sumner and Bentil all come back next year and lead the pre-season conference accolades. Dunn and Ellenson go in the lottery. Ochefu in the 2nd round

I used to think whitehead was a punk, but he has won me over.

I would love to see what this team could do if everyone comes back, but I would be extremely happy for Isaiah if he were a first round pick this year.

The kid took a big chance on Seton Hall and he turned the program around. Love him.

I certainly hope that his NBA Draft stock keeps rising and that IW becomes a very hot property for NBA teams to desire.

However, it seemed as though his comments in the article were intended to be more politically correct, then to give accurate guidance about his plans.

We should know a lot more about his future, within 15 hours. Xavier will focus on stopping IW. If he has a great game against a very solid team like Xavier, his draft stock will go up more than with any previous performance.

I just hope that IW truly continues to play for the goal of winning games at SHU, and not to impress NBA scouts with fancy moves and big scoring numbers.

Got to love having this kid, no matter how long that will be. He obviously loves playing on this team. Imagine he stays one more year and is a lottery next year. That doesn't happen at seton hall very often.

He's come a long way in the maturity department. Once he got into the team game everything changed for him and the entire squad. Truly does make everyone better the way he is playing now. That is why I feel we can win tomorrow. This is a much better team than when played X the first time. I am very grateful he chose to be at Seton Hall.

My understanding is that he's likely gone, as long as his stock keeps rising. But I'm not worry about that and just enjoying this terrific season.

Delgado leaving would perplex me. But I've heard plenty of chatter that this is a possibility as well.

He never was a punk on the court. Other kids at shu have done dirty crap often. Not isaiah.

Unless a spectacular performance in the tournament propelling the Hall to the Sweet 16 or better, Whitehead will stay. And that is not only a good thing for Seton Hall but for Whitehead himself. Looking at the year in total, IW was disappointing for most of the out of conference play. He only started to play great in the past 7 or 8 games.
One more year at the point guard position and he could turn himself into a lottery pick.

No offense to Andre or Shaheen, but IW has probably the most dynamic/take over the game guard we have had since Dehere.

Hope he gets good advice and council before he makes his decision, but regardless of that, he sure has been fun to watch and wish him nothing but the best.

I have no insight into what route IW will take next year; nor do I have any real insight on what he should do. Although the short-term remains muddled, the article drives home the long-term impact that I believe IW will have on this program.

He comes across as an articulate and level-headed young man with a fire for being a SHU Pirate. When he makes the leap to a successful NBA career, he will have validated why supremely talented NYC kids should consider SHU as a destination.

He's playing great, but playing great against providence and Georgetown is different than playing PG in the NBA. If teams have doubts about him being able to run the point it's wide for him to stay and work on that. He comes back and we are a preseason top 20 team , assume we have a top notch schedule against top teams where he can prove this. IW has to prove it against top competition against good competition. Team makes a sweet 16 run and he carries us then that may do it. But if they win 1 game or lose first round he doesn't get that notoriety. Let's face it against the conference bests he hasn't had that big game

Check the NBA rookie salary guide for the current year and you will see literally millions of reasons for Isiah to come back for one more year. The first pick is in the 5 million dollar neighborhood and goes down to the last pick in the first round in the 900 thousand range .

Great article. Wish the best for him.
It's nice to know that if he does chose to make the plunge it won't be because he isn't happy here at SHU.
Kudos to the coaches for their handling of this gifted player. Hopefully other McD All Americans will look to the Hall for a similar experience.

Whitehead is having a great time at the Hall. He loves being on campus.

If it's economically right he'll leave. If not he'll come back.

If all he cared about was just being a BB player and nothing else he wouldn't be on the honor roll.

Terrific article and a great kid. I'm having a great time watching one of the best talents to play at Seton Hall in a long time and wish him all the luck in the world. Selfishly I hope he stays and I'm really glad he's doing so well academically too. Impressive in many ways.

"Shot Selection."

That comment by the scout was the most important part of the article.

IW's biggest weakness last season was his shot selection. Now he has more experience. He's smarter. He's more coachable. He plays more team basketball. And he's showing off his great passing skills.

Moreover, he's becoming a much better shooter because he has sharply improved his shot selection. When you don't take a bad shot, you are more likely to make the shot. Alternatively, when you don't take a bad shot you are more likely to make a good pass.

The best decision ever made for him and the team was becoming a PG. A great NBA PG needs size, speed, quickness, court vision, smarts and strength. He has them all.

What stood out to me the most the first time I saw IW was the way he runs. He runs like a track guy. He has a spring and bounciness in his legs that exists only when you have big-time powerful legs combined with quickness.

If Whitehead comes back next season and everybody has their head on straight, I have no doubt this team will be a top ten team with a realistic opportunity to think Final Four.

Just posted part of a Q&A on the Trove he had with the media after the Providence game.

Gave most all the credit for his play unselfishly to "coach Sha".

I'm not surprised to hear that.

Holloway was an incredible passer and PG. It's hard to exaggerate how good he was. As soon as he arrived at SHU, teams could not press SHU anymore because Sha could break the press by himself. Even those monster Georgetown and Syracuse teams could not F around with Sha.

I think that any top high school PG should have Shaheen and Willard at the top of their list.

Great article. Personally, I think he would be better served to have a more consistent, dominating season at this level next year then be in better position. But can never them not to take the money if it's there.

Willard and Holloway have done a terrific job with Whitehead. His floor game as a PG has improved considerably throughout the season.

One thing that gets lost in this team is the number of honor roll students that they have. This team has the whole package and Whitehead is one of those honor roll students. Kudos to this entire program for being more than just basketball!

His maturity along with the growth of his teammates and the addition of Gordon are what has made this season what it is.
I only wish him the best.. Read what he says, when he goes to the NBA he could be the best ambassador we have had. Which would be terrific

Isiah will be back next year. With him back SHU will be in the top 10 all year. They will be in the National news all year and Isaiah will be in the running for the National Player of the Year. All that media attention will vault Isiah into a lottery pick

LETS GO PIRATES!!!!!!
