Time to turn the page to next season, only one I would want back is Coleman and in today's landscape I hear he is going to cost 500k? Insane.

Its kind of early for this. Let the season play out. More important moving forward is getting performance value for the compensation output. If a certain transfer in receives a $250,000 NIL payment, you can't get a $40,000 performance value. The coaching staff are responsible for part of that performance output too. The staff would make their lives easier focusing on players with a high basketball IQ, whether it's a high school recruit or transfer in. We all can see with our own eyes what it looks like when the basketball instincts are lagging.

Coleman: yes
Godswill: yes
Scotty: yes, but we need some serious developments in his game. This will be an absolute testament to our staffs ability to develop players which the jury is still out on
Tubek: likely yes, but we need to see further development throughout the season
Felton: likely yes, showing signs of life
Okorafor: likely yes in a backup center roll
Dual: maybe, but at a budget unless he figures out his game during second half of year.
Gus: maybe, budget depth piece
Prince: unlikely want him back
Zion: is he even here anymore?

So you want half this horrendous team back. Smart. Let’s see how that works out

Coleman, Ehrierene, Felton, maybe Okorafor
If that's the case you SHU is going to need a major influx of cash to get some guys in the portal because can't see Coleman coming back with just those core guys. Staff needs to be working right now looking at mid major programs and start reaching out to PG's and shooters. If you have to look at D2/JUCO look there as well.

Keep all sports but basketball in BE move basketball to MAAC ( ND model) and we will retain most of our fans stay in BE and PRU will become a ghist town

You can’t reach out right now by rule.

Everyone is tampering. Yes technically you can’t talk to them directly but there are ways around that. People are talking to their AAU coaches, their agents/handlers etc. That’s what any high major program should be doing. As soon as the season is over and you figure out who’s staying you should have a list ready to go of players that fit your needs that you want to recruit to the program.

If you were to tell me that Sha would hire an established offensive coordinator/assistant coach with direct responsibility over the offensive but the deal was that we would have to take several players back next year, I would take that deal.

They are a historically bad offensive team, and a very good defensive team. The unfortunate fact is that if this team had even mediocre offensive production, they would be at worst 7-2 going into Rutgers with a big opportunity for a signature OOC win.

Never thought it would come to this but I am coming around to the same view. Our traditionally low giving rate puts us at a marked disadvantage even without the NIL challenge. Every team in the Big East will out raise us.

LOL, move to the MAAC and Seton Hall wouldn't be playing at The Rock.
Well how much longer can we continue to play at the Rock with results like this? I imagine renting out that building has a very hefty price tag. With little to no ticket sales beyond the already purchased season tickets going forward, the cost of the NIL, coaching staff, etc. How far in the hole is SHU willing to go for the basketball program?

Good lord. It’s a bad beginning of this season. Has this happened before this year this badly? No.

Some of the people on here put the extreme fanatic in fan.

This is just foolish. We don’t even have a MAAC worthy gym to play in.

Up until this point there are really no issues playing at The Rock as far as on court success. I would like to think this year will be a one off. We still may have some good moments there this year. Obviously, losing those three games fouled the season up. Of course the rest of the year can be an all out disaster too. Sha deserves the chance to turn things around or improve recruiting choices.

"Moving down" is an unpleasant thought. Have any bb schools done this--- not including schools who have opted to "focus on academics" as face-savers of-sorts? The University of Hartford comes to mind. What other tenuous big-time programs might realistically be in this boat?

Why are we even entertaining the thought of moving down. Please stop.

Moving down would be a death sentence to the university. That being said- Felt would be at the appropriate level for his AD services if we were a MAAC or NEC school. So if we won’t remove him maybe we should consider doing it for him

Give it a few years for schools to figure out and accept the reality of NIL being an impossibility to keep up with year after year.

There will be a new sub division at the very least that encompasses former big name schools

While it's way better to be in the Big East, this is a silly statement.

Can we start a thread entitled "Who on this message board do you want back next year?"
Big East basketball pays much of the bills for the school. Student /applications increased significantly under Willard during success of the basketball program. Not having a high level sport would impact enrollment at a time where many don’t feel college is still necessary

Saint Francis College from the NEC folded their entire athletics department post-pandemic. Don't know that any "big-time" programs have ever moved down. Maybe some football programs have "moved down." If anything, more schools post-pandemic seem to be trying to reclassify into Division I or from smaller to bigger conferences.

But enrollment is flat.
