Why cant we play Q'finals at the Pru?????

Why would we play a game that most don't care about at the Rock, and risk drawing the same crowd that folks were mocking Nova for earlier this week? And with the school taking a potential financial risk in the process, assuming that they lose money if we don't draw a certain number. Much better to play in front of 1300 people at Walsh.

We could assuming it is available but question is now many seats would we sell and would school lose big money on deal. Was the last NIT game at Pru the Pope groin punch game?
Yes.

We went 1-1 in 2012, both were at Walsh. Last year lost in Colorado.

I just think we have some fan momentum right now seems like we are engaged and would draw well for that one last game

I agree playing this game at Walsh but wonder what that break even number at Rock would be. Guessing around 4,000.

I mean it was kind of sad how the North Texas twitter guy said "Seton Hall's a Big East team and plays in a D3 gym" maybe he doesnt know where we play all season but its a bad look

Keep it at Walsh. Everyone including announcers keep talking about the great environment and it’s like a mini Cameron.
Environment has been solid but calling it mini Cameron might be the cringiest, most idiotic thing that crossed the airwaves. Students going 5 rows deep on one side, concessions on a folding table for overflow from the HS-level window (akin to a public little league stand, only worse). Embarrassing to use Cameron and Walsh in the same sentence.

I guess they really are talking about how close everyone is to the players like at Cameron.

If we really wanted to accommodate another 2,000 fans but keep things "cozy", we should give Grant a call and play around the corner from Prudential at NJIT.

To the question of why not play the game at Pru, beyond Walsh being a better fit for the game, Nicki Minaj is performing at Pru the next night. I’d imagine the set up for that is considerable and having a basketball game that might not get over until after 11 PM (if it’s a 9 PM start with jerry said was a possibility) would be pretty complicated

And the balconies. I‘ve been in both buildings and while they‘re not comparable on game day, I can certainly see what drew the comment from Fraschilla.

It’s not D3 but it’s on par with a lower end MAAC school. It’s a pathetic arena for an A10 level school but who cares. It’s great for this type of game.

Who cares. Two things can be true at same time. They aren’t wrong saying it’s a joke, but it also creates a great homecourt advantage.

It’s a great environment and provides nice home court advantage. Just too small for men’s division 1 team. I went there earlier this year for a women’s game with my kids and we really enjoyed watching game there. Would love to go for men’s game but tickets are tough to get with such limited seating. At this point makes sense to keep streak alive and win three in row at Walsh on Wednesday

Personally, I don't think we would have beaten St Joes at the Rock.

The crowd willed the team to victory Wed. That would not have happened at the Pru.
I tend to agree with you, although Dawes playing out of his mind and using this to audition for whatever comes next for the kid played a big role too.

Would love to be at the game but with limited tix it is what it is. I would prefer to not be there and have this run at Walsh and watch it on the tube. Too bad semis and finals are at a set location rather than at the higher seed home court.

Go Pirates!!

Having gone to Cameron several times it is not much bigger than Walsh and their seats upstairs are the same. It is just the crazy students at Cameron that make the big difference

10000000% Dan hits it on the head right here. The environment the past two games was electric. You couldn't have a conversation with the person sitting next to you when it got loud. I've never experienced anything like that at a Seton Hall game.

Another example, in the St. Joe's game there was a sequence when the crowd was going bonkers and Billy Lange was screaming for a time out, but his players couldn't hear him even though they were 10 feet away. Again, I have never witnessed or experienced anything like that at a Seton Hall game. Walsh is 10X louder than The Rock.

As Jerry Carino said - this is where college basketball is meant to be played. Not in 19,000 seat hockey arenas.

There is absolutely something to what you are saying, especially when it comes to a smaller fan base. I think Pitino realized this with SJU this past year. When the schedules were announced, I posted that them playing us at UBS was the gift of all gifts. Because I'd much rather that venue than Alumni Hall.

In fairness only a few play in NBA arenas - Marquette, Seton Hall and Georgetown. Marquette has already said they aren't getting into a long-term agreement with the bucks because they have plans to build their own smaller gym (not sure if that is still the plan).

Nova - on campus
Uconn - on campus
Xavier - on campus
Butler - on campus
St. Johns - on campus
Creighton - primary tenant 1 block off campus
Depaul - own arena off campus
PC - primary tenant 10K capacity

Marquette, Georgetown and SH are the only teams that rent NBA/professional arenas. We are the exception - not the rule.

It's not D3, but it would be D4 if there was such a thing. Having said that, it's been a great home court advantage so let's stay put.
