If someone answered this already than i apologize.

We need a serviceable backup C.

Anthony had 2 rebs, 2 turnovers, 4 fouls in 6 minutes. From what ive seen Anderson is better than this.

Braedan's focus should be law school. I'd sure that plays a role.

I agree smooth but exams are not until May and they just started the semester???

Law school is a different beast from undergrad. In undergrad you can get by taking ding dong classes. There is no down time in lawschool

Anderson's is a nice story, but as far as contributing to the team...... well, his situation is a nice story.
Don't want to knock Anthony. Hope he is a nice kid working toward his degree, but the more minutes he plays, the more trouble we are in.

Anderson was not good vs Creighton. Anthony played decent vs nova. Yesterday was the first be game when he committed alot of fouls. I think cause of his extra height willard wants to try to make him ready.

I kinda think Willard plays them based on matchups. Like when it's a slower more halfcourt based offense like Creighton he'll use Anderson. Or it could just be that Rashed has passed him. Either way they're getting 10 minutes a game at most to hold their position. I actually prefer the Nzei/Ish small combo over either at this point.

We won the game and quite impressively. Why be concerned on which reserves come off the bench and when. Looks like going out of ones way to find something negative to say on a day when everything went right.

I am wondering why anderson didnt play. see title. very valid question and theres nothing wrong with talking about how our team can be improved.

Nobody said anything negative yesterday. Posted this today and thought it was a head scratcher for anderson not to see the court when the other guy who plays his role was playing fairly poorly fairly quickly.

If the answer to the question is because of law school, i think fans have a right to be upset. thats a ridiculous situation.

Dan and I and others had a back on forth on this topic on the trove. I can assure you neither of us had the intention of going out of our way to be negative. Nothing but chatting about the game, recent trends, etc, really.

The good news is that Ish and Nzei are contributing more than anticipated so you can sub them for Angel in spots. I think we all thought Anderson would have contributed more and provided 10 mpg as the back-up 5 (or remember we thought he might start at the 5!!!). If Angel has foul trouble or gets injured, it's a big gap right now.

If it's what's his name's decision, I have no problem with it. I was wondering if he may ave been injured. I conclude, by circumstantial evidence, that he's not hurt (a good thing) and it was a what's his name decision.

Anderson getting zero minutes & not proving me to be useful really sours me on all the preseason hype and feel-good BS PR that came out of SHU & those close to the program. Bottom line is that we brought in a 5th year senior to go to law school that clearly cannot contribute on the court. I hope he's at least helping in the locker room. Glad we wasted a schollie on a feel-good precedent that it now looks like Hobbs orchestrated. Lovely.

You guys know a lot of teams that have a rotation of 12 guys?
Its not about having a "rotation of 12 guys" its about having a serviceable backup in case of injury or foul trouble. Serviceable being used very lightly. im observing there is no real big man that could fill the spot in those scenarios. Nzei and Ish are ok, but are not of ideal size. If Angel gets in foul trouble vs Providence we had about 8 minutes until we would really be under the gun (assuming anthonycould make it 2 more minutes)

Personally i guess its better to ride or die with ish and nzei.

Anthony is a foul machine, but he boxes out on offfense and he fronts his man on defense. Haven't seen enough of Anderson to make a comment. Frank

It isn't about having 12 or 13 guys in the rotation its about having a reliable back-up at every position that can give you quality minutes to rest your starters of fill in when they're in foul trouble.

As always it is a coaches decision based on matchups and practices. Saturday we out rebounded the Friars 50-32. So I guess the coaches decisions were pretty good in this regard. I think in this situation it is just a bit silly to worry about which order our reserve front court players are used.

Strange its like conveniently nobody knows why or doesnt wanna say. Could be as simple as coach just thought he wasnt gonna help, but from what ive seen i thought he was decent enough to get the spell minutes. If thats the case than yea non issue. Hes a backup.

It is absolutely not silly to talk about this. this is a pirates bball message board. And for the last time, its not about what order our reserves are in, its why didnt he play at all. Dont even think i saw his name in the box score. Sort of strange when the replacement picks up fouls at a mike davis level.

We did a pretty good job rebounding on saturday. especially our guards.

Anthony rebounded at a clip of more than 12 rebounds a game vs PC....he is bigger and Anderson isn't any better. I agree we could use more help at backup center. But I hope these two guys can step up if needed. I judge subs by how often I ask myself why is he playing. I am not wondering why Anthony is playing lately.

We could really use someone to mentor our bigs... both offensively & defensively.

Maybe because Willard thought Anthony was the best option of the two. Just a wild guess.

Seton75, I disagree, I often ask why is Anthony in the game. He just never seems relaxed in the game, and is always a half step to slow to defend, to grab rebounds, and get to loose balls. Whereas, I don't have that sense with Andersen. I feel that Andersen is simply a better basketball player than Anthony at this point. Now, I do agree that if Anthony is playing harder and better in practice, that should account for something.

4 Fouls, 6 mins. Doesnt matter what his per 40 is if he cant stay in the game for 8 minutes. the whole point of the backup is to be available. not to mention the instant bonus situation.

But man its a shame. If Anderson was even in the same area code as pre season predictions we would be pretty solid up there.

I mentioned that rebounding stat tongue in cheek in reaction to the fouls per game reference. And he did have few BE fouls before the pc game. Maybe that is the anamoly or maybe he is getting better with his fouls and pc is the exception. Again, no swen nater is out there, and I agree with athlete about this being an area where we are vulnerable. But I can see why Anthony is playing and agree with willard.
