Why was he fired?

Milbury a longtime stiff perhaps if not for the Jeremy Roenick situation and eventually departure Millbury would still be around

I don't watch much hockey, but I always thought Millbury was a good analyst when I did hear him. This is political correctness/cancel culture gone too far and exactly what those of us against it always warn about. People who don't deserve to be ostracized will be. This is just the start.

SMH...this cancel culture moment for a hockey color commentator. Let that sink in.

I think we should ban Raf for calling a bank shot, “just a kiss”

millbery is terrible. He adds next to nothing whether in the studio or in the booth. He’s stuck in the 70s. I don’t think I know a hockey fan that actually likes him. Not sure these remarks are why he was not brought back. it was long overdue. It’s not like they’re replacing him with a choir boy. Mike Baybock doesn’t have a sterling reputation.

every hockey fan hates him. generally as seen as the giant doofus forced upon us while pierre is his waylen smithers on the ice.

he probably has the worst sentiment in the hockey community, by far.

It seemed like they were already reducing his air time over the past few years.

So why not terminate him on those grounds instead of a lame cancel culture excuse.

I haven’t seen anything where NBC has specifically reference that’s what he’s been fired.

“It’s an unfortunate situation with Mike,” executive producer Sam Flood said Monday. “Mike is a friend. He’s a unique talent, and he’s given a lot to NBC and the NHL over the years. It was time to separate for a number of reasons.”

Except the timing of it, makes it pretty obvious.

It is almost 5 months later though.

To be honest, I don't pay any attention to Hockey at all. I still think any criticism of his comments over the summer are absurd but maybe there is more to the firing than I am aware of.

He did not complete nbc/nbcsn coverage after the comment, any organization doesn't have to make a decision on personnel when its convenient for you hall85, the season started this week, nbc announced their talent roster

That's an assumption that's being made, not an excuse by NBC. If they would've stated that's why they fired him then it could be a lame excuse, but they did not. They announced their new broadcast team for 2021 and he was not included in that. They hired a guy to replace him who was recently accused of mental abuse with his players.

not surprising this group is seething at any chance to be the old man yelling at cancel culture. even when theyre way outside their lane.

i hate cancel culture as much as the next guy but being someone who is very knowledgeable on the nhl this doesnt rustle my feathers.

sometimes people are hoping for problems. no one is immune i guess.

I enjoyed listening to Milbury and Keith Jones on the intermission/post game reports during the playoffs. I don't think I've heard him as a game analyst enough to form an opinion.

I would have given Milbury a pass because I have to admit I have on occasion been distracted by a women.

I am not a hockey fan. so if you say he sucked as an announcer, it does seem that this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. However, that would be disingenuous because there was nothing offensive about what he said.

with regard to cancel culture, it has gone too far. Comics can’t even tell a joke anymore for fear of offending people. It’s ridiculous. Go watch the opening of Eddie Murphy.’s Delirious where he is in the Red Leather outfit. People would lose their minds if that went on today.

i agree. im vehemently against it, its probably ruining my life, but im not going to start engineering scenarios for it.

millbury was hated more than any other announcer or analyst

I despise Mike Milbury, both as a commentator and from when was Islanders GM (a terrible one, at that). Obviously, this is silly. Not to mention the fact that hockey groupies are among the most "out there" women you'd want to meet. Many nights saw them in action post-games in the area bars around the old Brendan Byrne/CAA. One proudly told me she was a groupie, and when I called BS, she pulled out her phone and made a call. Within 30 minutes, 6-8 Devils, some married, stroll through the door to greet her and her friends.

I want to know the G-string to thong wearing ratio and if these women came from good nuclear families
