Seems unlikely in the foreseeable future a serious attempt to reduce debt will happen..I think a simple formula like limiting spending in a fiscal year to 1% less than GDP growth % of previous year.So if GDP growth is 3% in 2026 then 2027 federal spending can increase no more than 2% over 2026 spending.In time the debt would be reduced.It is easy to complain about the debt but as we know difficult to reduce it.If we do nothing we will see the debt rise to the point where will in effect monetize the debt by increasing money supply
