Actually processed catgut (various animals...not cat) has been used as suture material for decades. Interesting article!

They’ve obviously used pig parts before (skin grafts, heart valves, etc.) but not entire organs.

I was shocked that the waiting list on a kidney was 90,000+. Might not have been in that article but I liked the layout (and NY Times is pay walled, which was referenced in my Morning Brew newsletter).

I have a good friend who received a new liver over 40 years ago. We played golf not to long ago. Truly amazing technology, back then they had no idea how long people would live. It’s important to be an organ donor, and this new technology is amazing. The world gets bacon and someone gets a new life win win all the way around.

Seriously, I thought the article was great. Interesting how they were able to find a patient on life-support to test it out.
