It was a war- but we prevailed 58-55 at Cancun.

We were up by 3 with 1.6 left. Tony guarded the 3 point line with 5 players and let them have the layup. We then got the ball with 0.4 left - Tab was fouled - made both- game over.

Best WSOU game announcers I've heard in 55 years. Fanta's play-by-play and Collier's color comments were fabulous.

Great call by Tony at the end of the game and a great win. It was a gritty win when you consider we shot 30% from the field ( 21-70); 18% from the three (5-28) ; but killed NCS on the boards 56-39 including 22 offensive boards.

The other really gutsy call was keeping Molyneaux in for such a long time after Gordon got her fourth foul. Basically he was betting on needing height more than anything. I know she has a strong nose for blocking shots, even though she is raw at this point. She really dug in and gave her team outstanding minutes and a bridge to reach Gordon at the end. Just the right roster management.

John Fanta reported that Taylor Byrne has a shiner from the previous game ... And is really proud of it too.

This is a team to love.

Just looked at some of the game on Youtube. That was a real rock fight. Officiating seemed somewhat in favor of NC State, who were allowed to be very physical.

Pirates had a 9 pt. lead fairly late, which they dropped. Have to continue to work on end game tactics and finish more strongly.

When you look at the box score, it's hard to believe they won. They shot 30 percent overall and 18 percent on threes. They racked up 19 turnovers (six for Richardson) with only seven assists.

In a key stat, they did out-rebound NC State 56-39.

Yet they battled and held on for the victory. Congrats to the Pirates.

Totally agree with you. And we still have one more verbal for the year after that. I am betting we get our first 2018 recruit this spring, just have that feeling....

I watched a good portion on my phone. It was difficult because of the lack of sound. That was a gutsy win and another excellent notch on their season resume. It looked to be a war on the boards and NC State seemed to have some big gals on the court.

Every time SHU started to pull away NC State made a run to stay in it. SHU I believe scored less than 20 points in the second half. Is that correct? Nice win for Tony B and company.

GREAT WIN the only thing I had a problem with was I thought coach tried to milk clock too early I think we were up 9 with 4mins. and change and let NC STATE back into the game but we hung on to win. GO PIRATES!!!!!
