I actually have no idea why schools pay them so much. Half of them would be selling cars, earning commission, were it not for this profession. They can’t get by on a million a year? It would still be more than the players who make them look like they have a rare skill.

I think in the era of NIL, coaches are going to have an even shorter shelf life. The minute things start to go south, you are going to have big donors, that have more leverage than ever, wanting guys fired.
