On Saturday, freshman Shane McCarthy pitched eight innings and gave up just one run, but Butler shut out the Pirates' offense, 1-0. Despite the loss, McCarthy's ERA dropped to a BIG EAST-best 1.71. On Sunday, Anthony Elia pitched 5.1 innings of one-run relief, but Butler won 3-1 to win the series. Kyle Grimm had two hits in the loss. SERIES INFO.
(Rutgers leads, 44-42)
Seton Hall and Rutgers will resume its long-running rivalry with a three-game series in three different locations this weekend. The Pirates will host the Scarlet Knights on Friday, Rutgers will play host on Saturday and the teams will meet at a neutral site, TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J. on Sunday. Rutgers has a slim lead in the all-time series, 44-42, but Seton Hall has won three of the last four games in the series. The teams had a single game scheduled in 2014, but it was snowed out. In 2013, Seton Hall won two of three games in Piscataway. This will be the first meeting between the teams since 1972 without at least one of the legendary coaches, Seton Hall's Mike Sheppard and Rutgers' Fred Hill, at the helm.

PACILLO BLANKS HAWKS
Sophomore Anthony Pacillo tossed his first career complete-game shutout on Tuesday at Monmouth. The left-hander gave up only three hits while going the distance. He struck out seven and walked only one to improve to 3-2 on the season. The Pirates won 2-0 to improve to 19-15 overall this season.

PIRATES DROP TWO TO BUTLER
Last weekend, Seton Hall dropped two of three games to Butler in BIG EAST Conference play. Seton Hall defeated the Bulldogs, 6-4, on Friday, but lost 1-0 and 3-1 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The Pirates are now 5-4 in conference play.

ANNUNZIATA CLIMBING CHART
With three hits at Monmouth on Tuesday, Sal Annunziata broke into Seton Hall's top-10 list in career hits. The senior currently has 212 hits and is tied for ninth all-time with Dan Hummel. Casey Grimm is Seton Hall's hits king with 250 from 2000 to 2003.

ANOTHER GEM
Freshman Shane McCarthy threw a gem in Seton Hall's loss to Butler on Saturday. The right-hander gave up just one earned run over eight innings, but came up on the short end of a 1-0 loss. McCarthy's 1.71 earned run average leads the BIG EAST and ranks 33rd in the nation.

PUTOUT LEADER
As the starting first baseman for the last four full seasons, Sal Annunziata has officially become Seton Hall's all-time defensive putout leader. The senior currently has 1,415 putouts supplanting Jim Duffy, the prior leader, who had 1,387 in his career.
