Interesting developments going on with various coaches but folks should not be fooled. It is often a game coaches play by planting false stories or exaggerating the truth to keep them attractive to other schools and programs. Some even ask that their firing be held off till they interview for other jobs. They could have a talk with an AD or even President and make people feel as if they discussed extensions and even a huge salary bump when nothing of the sort was even discussed. Than b4 you realize it they take another job fooling a committee into thinking they left on their own based on wanting a needed change. Some coaches might even swap jobs. By the way that Alabama Job is a great one and whoever gets it could get the recruits they want into school and be in with many elite recruits one way or another (smile).

Great thread title, LFBall, because from the perspective of many of us, you could add another game - taking a massive paycheck while underperforming to a pronounced degree - feels like theft.

BP, stealing lots of money due to vastly underperforming is hardly exclusive to coaches. It is just the Peter Principle playing out in capitalism.

Good point. Doesn't make it feel any better though.

Life, love, business, politics.....is one giant game. The more money that is involved, the more intensely it is played.

As I mentioned on here Coaches play games. I would bet Steve Lavin has his hat in the ring at Arizona State and was stalling the separation process hoping to get the job before the separation. What a situation based on him going to NCAAs. Really had outstanding talent though some were similar in size and ability.
