Coral Springs, Fla. – Seton Hall women’s golfers Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.), Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) and Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) were named to the 2014-15 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team on Monday.

Kruse and McClure receive the impressive distinction for a third straight year.

A total of 758 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized across Divisions I, II and III. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA to qualify is 3.50.

For a third straight year, Kruse led the Pirates with the lowest scoring average for the academic year. The senior played in all 11 tournaments and notched four, top-10 finishes. Kruse tied for first with McClure at the Rio Verde Invitational with a season-best 2-over-par, 72-74-72-218. She tied for 14th at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, which is the largest tournament in the country with 212 individuals, with a 4-over-par, 74-73-73-220. Named to the All-BIG EAST Team and All-BIG EAST Tournament Team, she helped guide the Pirates to their second straight BIG EAST championship with a fourth place tie at 12-over-par with a 76-74-78-228. A summa cum laude graduate, Kruse earned the Seton Hall athletics department’s highest distinction this May, being named Most Valuable Pirate.

Named to the All-BIG EAST Tournament Team for a second straight year, McClure led Seton Hall with three, top-5 finishes during the 2014-15 year and became the first Pirate to win multiple individual titles. The senior edged Kruse in a playoff to claim the individual crown of the Rio Verde Invitational with a year-best 2-over-par, 71-73-74-218. Showing her penchant for succeeding under pressure, McClure led Seton Hall with a 75.50 scoring average in the third round of events and shot a career-best 2-under-par, 70, in the final round of the 2015 BIG EAST Championship. Her effort enabled the Pirates to win the event by just one stroke.

Pantelas took major strides in her first year as a Pirate. The freshman won her first collegiate individual title in only her fourth tournament, the St. John’s Invitational. Pantelas won the event by seven strokes with a 1-over-par, 74-69-143. Her 77.47 stroke average was third on the team to only Kruse and McClure. Pantelas’ 69’s in the second round of the Intercollegiates at Yale and St. John’s are tied for the lowest single round for a par-71 course in program history.

The impressive trio contributed to a program-record four team victories during the 2014-15 academic year, a second straight BIG EAST title and NCAA Regional appearance.
