CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. -- The Seton Hall men's golf team will complete the 2014-15 competition year with three rounds of the 2015 BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club in South Carolina, April 26-28.

One round of action will take place on each day of the tournament beginning at 8 a.m. ET. All rounds of the Championship, which will be played on the Dogwood and Magnolia Courses, are free and open to the public.

The winning team of the three-day event will earn the BIG EAST's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Should the individual winner not be a member of that team, he will also earn a spot in the NCAA field.

The club features three nine-hole courses. Most of the competition will play out on the Dogwood Course on Sunday and Monday. For Tuesday's final round, the first 10 threesomes will tee off on Dogwood and the final five will play the Magnolia Course. Five student-athletes will play for each of the nine teams, with the top four scores counting towards the team cumulative.

Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.

St. John's is the defending conference champion after earning its first BIG EAST golf crown since 1989. In addition to Seton Hall, nine BIG EAST teams will be participating in the Championship, including Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, St. John's, Villanova and Xavier.

Seton Hall has a strong opportunity to become the center of the BIG EAST golf world. The women's golf team won the BIG EAST Championship for a second straight year last weekend, and the men's team enters this tournament as the third seed in the field. The Pirates will be paired with Marquette and DePaul for the first round.

Head coach Clay White will bring the following golfers to Callawassie:
1. Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.)
2. JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.)
3. Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines)
4. Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.)
5. Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.)

Last year at Callawassie, Go tied for seventh with a 7-over-par, 74-72-77-223, to lead Seton Hall to a sixth place team finish. The Hall finished 26 strokes behind St. John's, but only three strokes out of fourth place.

Seton Hall is coming off a second place showing at the Princeton Invitational last week. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien shot an even-par, 70, in Sunday's final round to lead the team. O'Brien finished the tournament at 2-over-par with a 72-70-142 to tie for fourth place among 72 individual golfers. It's only his second career top-5 finish and his 2-over-par is his second-best tournament score in his young collegiate career.

Collectively, Seton Hall shot nine strokes better in Sunday's round at Merion Golf Club than they did at Aronimink on Saturday. The Pirates were able to move up two spots in the standings to tie Temple for second place at 26-over-par. For the two-day event, The Hall shot a 297-289-586. Among those in the field of 13 teams, two BIG EAST teams also competed. The Pirates bested St. John's by 14 strokes and Georgetown by 18 strokes.

The BIG EAST Digital Network will provide coverage of the final round on www.bigeast.com. Complete results following each day's competition will be found at SHUpirates.com and golfstat.com.
