WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Sophomore Anthony Pacillo (Lyndhurst, N.J.) pitched his first career complete-game, shutout as the Seton Hall baseball team blanked Monmouth, 2-0, on Tuesday.

Pacillo was masterful surrendering just three hits in route to his third victory of the season. He struck out seven batters and walked just one.

After two perfect innings, Pacillo ran into trouble in the third. A pair of singles through the left side and a balk put Monmouth runners on the corners with just one out. But the left-hander was able to get Monmouth's Grant Lamberton to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the Hawks' threat.

In the top of the fourth, it was the Pirates that struck first offensively. Senior D.J. Ruhlman (Belle Mead, N.J.) drew a leadoff walk and Sal Annunziata (Bronx, N.Y.) followed with a two-run home run over the left-field fence. The senior's team-leading fifth homer of the season was of the line drive variety and gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead.

It turns out, Annunziata's blast would be all the offense Seton Hall would need on Tuesday, as Pacillo did the rest of the work. After issuing his lone walk in the sixth inning, Pacillo retired the last 10 Monmouth batters in order.

Annunziata led Seton Hall's offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and the aforementioned home run. Ruhlman also reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Seton Hall will return to action on Friday, April 24 when it hosts former BIG EAST rival Rutgers. First pitch is schedule for 6:00 p.m.
