The libero averaged 5.25 digs per set and helped The Hall to two wins in three matches.
NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Rylee Nelson (Mazeppa, Minn.) was named BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Nelson didn't look much like a freshman in her first collegiate action last weekend. She came off the bench in the season-opener against New Mexico and made the most of her opportunity with 11 digs. In the nightcap against San Francisco, Nelson was the starting libero and erupted for 19 digs in only three sets. In the tournament finale against UC Irvine, Nelson narrowly missed her first career double-double, finishing with 12 digs and nine assists.

Nelson averaged 5.25 digs per set for the weekend and was instrumental in the Pirates returning from the West Coast with a 2-1 record.

Creighton's Ava Martin was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Butler's Jaymeson Kinley earned Defensive Player of the Week. The Weekly Honor Roll consists of Creighton's Ellie Bolton, Georgetown's Peyton Wilhite, St. John's Wiktoria Kowalczyk, Villanova's Madeline Barber and Xavier's Emma Grace.

Seton Hall will return to action this week when it makes its 2023 home debut at Walsh Gym. The Pirates will host local rival NJIT on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 5:00 p.m. as part of the Seton Hall Classic.
