We are a funny team. We suffer big time in some key areas yet we’ve pulled out a good season so far:
**In the BE, The Hall’s offense is dead last in 3PA:FGA + % of points from 3, A:FGM (thanks to the shooting mostly), 10th in turnover %, 7th in 2PT%, and 8th in 3PT%. We’ve shot FT’s well (4th) and have gotten to the line decently (4th), while doing a good job picking up all those missed shots (2nd in OR%). 9th in efficiency. So tough to win like this when you don’t have floor balance and commit so many turnovers. It can be done (see our wins with limited 3PT), but the lack of shooting creates a lack of space which is what makes the turnovers worse because everything is so packed in or the passing is just around the perimeter to create a driving lane. We also tend to get jumpy at times offensive with reckless drives or midrange shots bc we don’t have the outside game.
**Defensively we’re 9th in 3PA:FGA and 9th in 3PT % defense. We’re also 2nd in FTA:FGA by the opposition. 5th in efficiency. I feel that’s gotten much better since the non-conference even though we jump out of our shoes way too much. There was an adjustment period for sure after losing two very good defensive players in Ndefo and Odukale.
We’ve had so many games where it’s painful to watch us play offensively. Typically, it’s been on the road.
