Doesn't matter how good your defense is if you're incapable of scoring the ball. Aside from the fact that you need to score to win - the great equalizer in college basketball is the home court advantage and it's very difficult to have an engaged crowd if you're incapable scoring on back-to-back possessions.
Or if You have the shot clock expire 2 times in a row with the lead

Guys give Dual and Scotty time. They were highly highly sought after kids for a reason. The talent is there. Every kids time table is different. Today sucked but it’s early and last years OOC compared to how the league played out should provide some needed context after a bad loss (and yes I get the difference between this team and that one).
I’m all for giving them time. It’s very early obviously. But make no mistake, they have absolutely stunk so far. I expected something like this from Dual but not from Middleton.

Brutal quite frankly

Something is going on with him. I remember seeing him play on Providence and thought to myself, he has that extra gear in his step. It was like watching Whitehead, where he could just turn the corner so effortlessly you knew he would have a pro career somewhere.
Dual doesn’t have that breakaway speed anymore.

Hope he finds it again
He's been hurt most of the pre-season - not sure what the injury is. Looks like he injured if re-injured his ankle in the game. Came back in though late in the game.

As bad as our OOC was lat year, we did beat all of the cupcakes. Trying to remember the last time we lost one of those. Hasn't happened much over the last number of years.
Hall84 --I fear that this will not be the last of the "cupcake upsets"- I left early v St Peters b/c I was so disgusted but bounced back today with a good and positive pre-game attitude --only to be held hostage by my Jesuit friends to suffer for my vanity. This ??? Team??? is so hard to watch --maybe if we don't use such a sticky ball ? or not allow e-z pass to be used by the opponents.

Yeah I mean we couldn’t break 60 points against either St. Peters’s or Fordham. Not good. Not good at all.
Something like 85 percent of the offense gone. And we head to Hofstra to play against a very good coach in Speedy Claxton on Wednesday.

Our former guard Jaquan Sanders, now at Hofstra, just lit up Iona for 24.

Can't win games with defense alone. Need some offense. Where is it coming from?

Brutal quite frankly

Let’s keep in mind that SJU best this team by 30. Maybe Sha isn’t so special, because if you can’t coach even borderline BE talent against A10 at home, questions are natural.
He's a very good coach, but now more than ever it's about rolling the balls out and letting them play because coaching takes time. Developing players takes time. It doesn't matter who you talk about the big leaps came in year 2 looking at Whitehead, Sandro, Rhoden, etc. You only get one year. Improvement takes time and the new system doesn't allow a coach to have that time.
