Come on!!!

A couple more thoughts:

"All press is good press" - I don't particularly agree with this statement but in this case the sin is so incredibly minor that I think it applies. It generated attention and I'll guarantee more people are aware of this game being on Peacock than would be if they used a proper screenshot. Maybe some of them will even tune in.

The idea that they should have taken the post down and fixed it - I disagree, all that's going to get is a bunch of people responding with "receipt" screenshots of the original. Leave it up, own it, take the L. Actually, I think a GREAT response would be to come up with another super low-tech follow up to poke fun at themselves with. Maybe a picture of the pirate cozying up in front of an old tube TV asking what channel peacock is lol
THIS. Nailed it. I will now be disappointed if this isn’t the school’s response.

Come on!!!

I have been critical of the school on this thread, but let's not completely lose perspective. We have had a lousy year, but honestly we are just a reasonable free throw percentage from having only 2 losses.

The concern many have is whether the program, it's leaders and the school administration, learns from the issues of the past few years and if there is a moving forward plan.

Regardless of NIL, our facilities were pathetic. We needed the basketball center and it got done albeit late. Now, we need the leaders to continue to move forward.
You’re being too generous. We own the 349th best (worst?) free throw percentage in the country. A “reasonable free throw percentage” starts by recruiting fundamentally sound basketball players. Last year with the likes of Kadary, Dre, and Dawes, we were 11th best. If that statistic alone doesn’t sum up what happened to our team, then I don’t know what does.

Health Insurance Premiums

Quite the exaggeration as well.

2010s had the lowest healthcare per capita spending of any other decade and we had millions more covered while covering pre-existing conditions and preventative care. Administrative costs as a percentage of total healthcare spending increased the largest amount in the 2000s before the ACA.

Not a perfect bill and no one suggested it would be, but it’s a a boogeyman that gets blamed for everything bad that happens, accurate or not.
Speak of exagerations...no one blames Obamacare for everything wrong with healthcare. It is a system that needs fixing. It didn't accomplish what was advertised (i.e. Bending the curve, "If you have your doctor, you can keep your doctor"...).

Health Insurance Premiums

Do you think Obamacare was not a cause of higher premiums?

Not really no. Given the rate of premium increases per year prior to and after the ACA, I don’t believe the ACA caused them to increase at a faster rate than they were previously increasing. In fact, it’s the opposite.

I don’t think people in general have an accurate grasp of how fast healthcare costs (including premiums) were rising prior to the ACA.

Here’s some data on the topic.

What is/are the cause/causes?

Premiums are primarily driven by usage. The more we use that someone else pays for, the higher premiums go.

Come on!!!

It’s true that the Internet and social media is not the real world. The negative impact of a post like that is limited. With that said, it should have been taken down by now. It’s not unreasonable to ask that the communications department not post things that embarrass the University or the program.
Disagree on taking it down. Leaning into it and nailing a follow-up post will drive more engagement and turn the whole thing into a positive. Some light self deprecating humor here wins the day.

What do you want to see in 2025?

I'd like to see Sha commit to developing the younger players. Whether we keep them or not, develop them and continue to build your coaching brand that players can improve and you will develop their game here.

The one year players like Toumi and DAW are what they are - you are not going to change them. Make them role players and commit to the younger guys no matter what our record is. The only way we build a team for the future is develop the younger guys, try to retain them and pick up a few studs through free agency. And of course increase NIL.

From the SHU administration, do so much freakin more with NIL. It should be everywhere. Every small donation you can get can help. Start talking about revenue sharing and get a plan and make it public and market how much better its going to be. I still don't see the commitment to NIL and player compensation through their actions. Get creative and find a way to free up some funds. You are either in or out. We don't have two feet in either the In or Out bucket.

And the Board of Regents have to stop F'ng up.
