Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA commit to AAC amid Pac-12 interest

If “College Conference Members” was a Jeopardy category, I doubt Jeopardy Masters could get one of the five answers correct.
This university has shown national prominence in significant collegiate sports winning high-level national championships but cannot find a power football conference due to the ineptitude of its football program.

There may be a layup in there still.

I guess agree to disagree doesn’t mean much?

I get what it means. It means you’re unwilling to consider vindictive behavior when you believe a firing was justified.

If somebody doesn’t do their job and perhaps undermines you they deserve what they get.

Again, if McCabe should have been fired is not the debate. Him being fired outside of guidelines just so he would lose his pension eligibility is. And it’s not like I need to wonder if Trump was thinking about the timing because he tweeted about it months earlier!

You put yourself in a corner by saying Trump wasn’t vindictive while in office and are not stuck on defending that position rather than just acknowledging that this one is a pretty clear example where he was.

Another Professional team at Pru Center

It just seems like there's very little wiggle room at the Prudential Center, which has a quite a full schedule to begin with. There certainly are days we never play there, like Mondays. But if Fox ever wanted to do a Big Monday, we would be possibly limited.

In America, merit seems to be giving way to DEI concerns too. I know you like that, Merge.
please. wells fargo is has flyers, nova, and the sixers, wings, and a more frequent concert venue. the pru has plentyyyy of room

You don’t think McCabe being fired a day before he was eligible for his pension, and weeks before FBI policy dictates was vindictive? Trump tweeted about wanting Sessions to fire McCabe and tweeting about when he gets his benefits.

Not a reasonable position that it wasn’t just Trump being vindictive at this point to be honest. You just don’t want to admit it.

no its 100% vindictive and its laughable he pretends to "believe" that trump isn't vindictive.

of course he is, it's all he talks about. he constantly talks about taking down those who are against him. and its one of his only real policies.

North Carolina

We will have to agree to disagree. I don’t see it as vindictive. I see two guys who politicized their positions. Boo hoo.

If they deserved to be fired or not is debatable…
Trump being vindictive towards them in how they were fired is what we’re discussing though.

FBI policy was that top level employees get 30 days notice of any disciplinary action. The exception is for when a crime has been committed which will result in jail time. That was not the case with McCabe. He was fired earlier than 30 days just to try and make him miss his pension. That is 100% an example of Trump being vindictive.

Comey McCabe deserve to be fired. Even Democrats had no use for Comey.

Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA commit to AAC amid Pac-12 interest

It makes more sense for UConn, at this moment, than it does the AAC schools. Those schools are sticking with what they have and banking on the behind the scenes move the league is pulling to pay off for them.

UConn is literally sitting on an island as an independent FBS school. If they can get a partial membership to the Pac-12 for football it would help them immeasurably. Plus, it likely doesn't rule out moving to a "broken down ACC" a decade from now.
I don’t disagree, this whole situation just shows how desperate both the new Pac12 and UCONN are.

North Carolina

I’m talking about the guardrails working to keep him in check during his first term, to prevent him from doing vindictive things like trying to prosecute Comey and Hillary.

How about firing McCabe a day before his retirement so he couldn’t get his full pension? Firing Comey while he was on a work trip and being mad he was able to fly home? Firing Vindeman?

Criticizing Pence while rioters were breaking into the Capital? Pure vindictiveness.

Trump is who we all know he is. We need people around him that will keep him from his insane impulses. For the majority of his first term, that was the case. I don't think he will accept anyone who says no to him during a second term.

He’s tough to work for. I certainly wouldn’t want to work for him. But Harris is notorious for staff turnover and being tough to work for as well. That doesn’t mean you’re vindictive.

C’mon, AAC teams are turning the new PAC 12 down. UCONN’s only viable option is a broken down ACC. Whenever that may happen.

Apparently, there have been discussions. The PAC 12 wants Connecticut to join for all sports, which is a non-starter. But, if they're willing to take us as a football only, and have no GOR or at least not one that runs longer than five years, I think we'd consider it if the money were right. If the valuation of what the P2 membership may be worth correct It could be eight to $10 million for Connecticut football for distribution rights. Plus, we get to stay in the big east. We'd probably end up making a combined $16-$18 million. Not horrible. Football travel isn't like basketball travel. We only have four games on the West Coast a year. In all likelihood, they try to would make them back to back to limit travel time.

Now, the big ifs and all of this is will they accept us as a football only member and can they actually get a vaguely decent distribution deal? As always, I believe it when they sign the papers. It's just healthier.
