Great version of Dancing Queen

The Atlantic..... here are the articles in this month's Political section: See a pattern?
"This is what a losing campaign looks like". referring to Trump/Vance linked above
"Democrats can't rely on the Black Church anymore" Ostensibly straight forward reporting, but can't access article
"Trump and Vance are Harming the People They Claim to Care About"
"The Judges Who serve at Trump's Pleasure"
"The Insurrectionists Next Door"
"How the Election Denial Mindset Works"
"A Horrifying New Attempt on Trump's Life" .... ostensibly fact based. Can't read article
"Trump's Lie is another test for Christian America"
"I'm not sure Progressives want Democrats to be that Big Tent.
"Trump's New Big Lie"
There were 10 more articles.. all about the election, 7 of which had titles with a negative Trump headline.
There were NO critical articles on Harris. Only how she broke Trump.

So if all you want to read is one side of the story.... you know where to look.

Liberal States

Great segment with Kevin O'Leary saying where liberal states are heading from a jobs perspective.

Rubin is posting a clip which is a year and a half old like it's new.

So what happened since then? Did liberal state employment collapse? No
Decrease? No.

For comparison sake, since that clip aired "uninvestable" NY employment increased 2.5%, out of business California increase by 2.7% Florida employment increased by 3.1% and North Dakota increased by 1.5%.

He's an entertaining businessman pushing for cheaper taxes and less regulations because that helps him.

He is controversial but they painted him in a totally negative fashion in the story. And we know why.

Yeah, because he is entering the political space this cycle and has been amplifying some of the most divisive rhetoric online. I follow him on X and his persona there is batshit crazy compared to listening him speak on political issues.

If he had this interview with Trump and offered to be a part of his Administration four years ago, it would have been received very differently.

We can't and won't prevent all bad things from happening.

Mitigating risks in my opinion starts and ends with addressing mental illness. I don't see how laws are going to stop mentally deranged people who want to cause harm from doing so. If you take away their guns, you think they're screwed? you don't worry about them going to pipe bombs as a result of the super strict gun laws?

Wow Woj goes back to college

People with connections and a love for the school who should be good at raising revenue (donations) and engagement from the fan base. People like Woj and Dana O'Neill obviously have extensive journalism experience and will be adept at communicating the message to fans/alumni. AND, you need someone to handle the NIL negotiations with transfers and current players. This is full-time work and should not be handled by the Head Coach who has enough on his plate.

Getting Dana at Nova and Woj at St Bonaventura is huge. Thankfully we have Fanta who donates a lot of time to our NIL events and Bob Ley who donates his time and money to build the Center for Sports Media. Imagine if someone at that level joined our team.

By the way, Peter King was announced as a Professor at the Center for Sports Media.

Musk is certainly controversial. He embraces that.
Not all of the criticism is fair, but some definitely is. I don't think anyone in a federal position who tweets/retweets the stuff that Musk does would keep their job for very long.

I'm still a fan of his, though I would prefer he didn't amplify some of the nonsense that he does on X.
I'm actually picking up a Model 3 this weekend. I had two family members ask if that was a good idea because of how unhinged he is.
One was probably the most unreasonably liberal person I know, the other was a moderate republican.

I recently listened to him on the Lex Fridman podcast. He was mostly talking about Neuralink which was incredibly interesting. Musk is clearly brilliant and thinking through things and their impact on humanity in terms of impact over decades and centuries. I like that version of Musk... Social media just seems to get the worst out of him (like most people)

Not really. I care that something gets done to help more than I care about my opinion.
If you care that much about something getting done, focus on the important things.
I have attended meetings locally and spoke to gun owners and police about what they would like to see happen and that's why I am suggesting things that they seemed to be on board with.
You are hearing what you want to hear. If it was that easy, we would already have many of the things you were suggesting. You don’t think gun owners and law-enforcement don’t want fewer gun deaths? Have you asked them about proposing or sponsoring legislation as you were suggesting?
If you don't I didn't convey their thoughts correctly or I didn't word it in the right way or I'm missing something... I don't really care. I wouldn't be involved in the process.

Gun owners and police should craft a bill which will they believe will help, and for the public to support it enough that the politicians can't continue to ignore the issue.
The recommendations on dealing with criminals will fall on deaf years.

Springfield, OH

The WSJ published a very thorough recounting of the false stories of Haitian immigrants eating pets, which has been amplified by both JD Vance and Donald Trump.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—City Manager Bryan Heck fielded an unusual question at City Hall on the morning of Sept. 9, from a staff member of Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance. The staffer called to ask if there was any truth to bizarre rumors about Haitian immigrants and pets in Springfield.

“He asked point-blank, ‘Are the rumors true of pets being taken and eaten?’” recalled Heck. “I told him no. There was no verifiable evidence or reports to show this was true. I told them these claims were baseless.”

By then, Vance had already posted about the rumors to his 1.9 million followers on X. Yet he kept the post up, and repeated an even more insistent version of the claim the next morning.

That night, former President Donald Trump stood on a Philadelphia debate stage and shot the rumor into the stratosphere. “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs,” he said to 67 million viewers. “The people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating, they’re eating, the pets of the people that live there. And this is what’s happening in this country.”

The city has been bombarded by bomb threats, parents keeping their children home fearing their safety, white supremacist goons roaming the streets. The father of the child killed in a bus crash driven by a Haitian immigrant has begged Republican politicians, including Vance, to stop invoking his son's death for political gain.

And JD Vance knew from the beginning that these stories about Haitian immigrants were lies, and he went with it anyway. Truly disgusting, and especially mind-boggling that he would do this to his own constituents.

You keep looking from your point of view versus a gun owner.

There are two potential players that could ultimately wind up being the “ power brokers “ in deciding what college sports ultimately looks like , namely the “ Anti - Trust division of the Department of Justice and either the Supreme Court or one of the Appeal Courts.

Congress is the first mover in all of this. Whether or not they grant the NCAA antitrust and under what terms and conditions they do so determines everything going forward.

What should we be trying when you see things like the Gaudreau death.

We can't and won't prevent all bad things from happening.

What we should do is mitigate risks. That's why you need to display you understand how to drive before getting a license. You need to register any car you purchase through a dealer or through a friend and you need to have insurance in order to use the car.

That doesn't mean that someone without those things can't cause death with a car. There are just basic things we need to do to mitigate risks to others in order to drive.

I think the government is ass backwards spending a fortune clean energy cars as opposed to perfecting self driving cars that might stop things like what happened to the Gaudreau brothers.

The government does fund subsidies for autonomous vehicle R&D but I would imagine that the government will provide direct consumer subsidies when the technology is ready for mass consumption and there is a net benefit to society, just like they did with EVs.
