2-1 Wins against VCU and FAU, Loss against Vandy

that's a good result but not a great result to get out of the hole they are in. Still a very hard watch
Have to say that a good Crowd stayed with them and did a good job of being optimistic and backing the Team ( alright --maybe there was some slight despondence when Prince had the end game foul shots ??) :)

i cant believe he even made one.

I was asking again why so many 50% FT shooters were on the court at the end. The reality is we don’t have many good FT shooters right now. Ugly win but a win nevertheless.

Take the win but relying on the 3 ball will probably win us 3-4 big east games this year. Not a good recipe for consistent success
We are getting a good sample size to show we may be the nest 3 point shooting team and defensive team under Sha.

Middleton and Aligbe FG percentage has been awful, but Middleton is showing signs and frankly I can think of 10 Aligbe shots that should have gone down this season. If he steps it up, we should be respectable on fg %.

Free throws is another story.

We're getting a sample size vs teams we're much more athletic than. That pretty much ends with NJIT. There will be more Vanderbilt's than FAU's after NJIT. Plenty of time to develop but in our one test, Vanderbilt could've named the score.

VCU was a top 10 defense and athletic.

Florida Atlantic very athletic as well.

We will see more athletic teams than Vandy for sure.

I think it was a solid outcome. We picked up a likely non-con Q1 win, maybe a Q2 win depending on FAU is this year (no idea), and avoided any bad losses by surviving a couple of games we won by a total of 5 points. Great would’ve been winning the thing. I didn’t like getting our asses kicked by Vanderbilt and pulling a total no-show on defense. The lack of intensity on the defensive end was glaring and totally uncharacteristic of this group through now 7 games.

To your point, we are fortunate to be 4-3 shooting .385 from 2PT range on the year, 355th in the country of 364 teams. I cannot believe how catastrophically bad this has been and if this does not correct, we won’t win 5 BE games. It doesn’t matter how good the defense is when the offense is this bad.

This was a good weekend. Take the two wins, go home, enjoy the holiday week and be ready to go on Saturday against Monmouth.

I still think VCU is the best team in the field. In fact, I think the four best teams were in our bracket -- I like Drake but their continuity advantage with their new coach and best players coming with him will start to fade soon.

As Piratz notes above, we picked up two nice wins and mostly played a better brand of basketball doing so. Losing the Vanderbilt game is disappointing more so because a team of entirely new players looked to be in mid-season form while we looked like we wear name tags so the players know who each other are.

The silver lining of the Vandy loss was Sha playing Felton and gaining trust in him. It's too early to anoint him a starter but he showed over the last two games he should be getting rotation minutes at a position of need.

More importantly why was he on the court and why was he the second option to get the ball?
I'm not really sure when you look at our bench in a one point game and say these are the 5 guys we have to have on the court. At the same time, a live ball turnover is a real possibility a coach needs to be ready for with this group. So you can't just put your 5 best free throw players on the court and say we will worry about defense after the whistle. I think the 5th guy was going to be an athletic big.
