3, the hard way

I wonder if they eventually gave him 3 points as the pass was made from just over the arc when deflected.

Eventually the passer landed over the line but he was behind the line up in the air at the time of the release.

I was wondering the same thing, but the deflector was inside the arc so I believe it would only be a 2.

Not sure of the rule. I would guess, and it's only a guess, that it's the passer/shooter and not the defender that dictates whether it's a 2 point shot or a 3 point shot.

My guess is if he had been deflected off an offensive player, it would have been a two since he would have gotten credit for the points. Since a defender was the last to touch, the points go to the last offensive player, the passer, who as noted was beyond the three-point line at that point.

Yes it’s no Different than a partially blocked shot that goes in. If taken behind the line it’s a 3.

LOL. Not sure I fully understand the 2nd part of this, but here's the rule I found:

A.R. 104. A1’s throw (pass) from behind the three-point line is deflected while in flight by:
1. B1; or
2. A2, both of whom are located inside the three-point line.
RULING 1: When a ball thrown (passed) in the direction of the basket from behind the three-point line with the possibility of entering the basket from above is deflected by a defender, a three-point goal shall be counted. However, if there is no possibility of the ball entering the basket from above and the “deflection caused the goal to be successful, a two-point goal shall be counted.
