50+ Fouls, Nearly 40 Turnovers

I think the frustrating part is NIL. We’re paying how much more than they are and we win by 4 on our home court. Only saving grace is it’s happening all over the conference. Don’t know if it’s parity or other than the top 4 teams it’s pure mediocrity in the big east.

It’s because nobody actually knows how to play basketball anymore. Today’s players know how to carry, travel and dunk for highlights or hoist 3’s.

So with all the nonsense transferring going on you have 10 guys running around like chickens unless you got a real superstar.

It’s why the international players have officially taken over the NBA. There’s no looking back.

It was simply a terrible basketball game to watch but a good teaching opportunity. Way too jittery on offense but look it’s the first game with 11 new players and I think not having Coleman was a big deal.

It was 53 fouls and 33 turnovers to be exact.

The teams also combined to shoot just 40/62 from the line. 🤣

My concern is we scored 53 vs Maryland and 57 vs SPU. Unless we’re going to play a Tony Bennett style game, we’re not beating anyone in the 50s. With that said we might need to play that style. We might need to embrace low number of possession rock fights.

Right now given the state of our program any win is a plus. What I’ll be looking for over the next 5 or 6 games is whether we’re showing progress and becoming a more competitive team and significantly cutting down on our miscues. If we don’t show that progress it could be a very long season for the SH fan base.

Too many guys afraid to let it fly. I’m also chalking it up to new environment and first game playing together. For me, the major cause of concern was rebounding. We’ve been solid on the boards for a few years now. We got outworked last night big time.

Trust in Sha. Thankful we avoided a bad loss. Not sure if we can improve quickly enough to avoid at least one bad loss in the pre-season, and the game at the rac is only 5 weeks away!

Far from the worst game I ve ever seen. Not even in my top 5 , many worse games that have resulted in loses. Not even close

I know we were short handed against Maryland and again last night but right now it’s so chaotic I can’t tell what is going ok offensively or who could be a player on that end.

Defensively we are versatile and switch well. Looked good given we have lots of length and athleticism.

I remember the first game against Niagara several years ago had something like 70 fouls. They were implementing the hand check rule.

It was good to be back at the Rock, regrouping with our Section, which seems to still be intact.

Go beat Fordham!

Things going against Sha ...

The team is young
The team is unproven
The the team is new to the system.

Many players that were good transfers had a bad first year and we are expected for a large group of them to gel right off the bat with no foundational players to lean on?

This is a tall task and people need to be patient.

Even if the entire year becomes a disappointment I can see this team coming back strong next year. Give the team a chance to gel, let Sha do what Sha does.
