That is not going to die down. St. John’s is NYC’s team so NY media support is going to sky high when the team is goodTotally disagree non stop talk on every local media outlet.
The hall never saw that much hype .
when I mentioned that they will sign 4 studs in the next month to add to a strong core it is because of Mike and another few big time donors who have elected to remain anonymous.
That is all great and phenomenal, you’ll prob go 33-1 next year and have 17 different vice showsThat is not going to die down. St. John’s is NYC’s team so NY media support is going to sky high when the team is good
and the fan base that was disenchanted with years of poor basketball is rejuvenated.

Watkins this week and Hopkins is already in fold. Playing Providence this week made the latter easy.
College Basketball 2025
His post is ridiculous, but the “choke” stuff is wild. They just had a bad day. Imagine someone saying that about us in 93, which is what is what their season and loss reminds me of to some extent. Before the year, and on paper, everyone would have pegged Arkansas as being better than them. No doubt the loss sucked for them, but they had a great season and one that every single person on this board would trade for tomorrow. If someone says otherwise they are being dishonest. It ain’t Duke or NC. Or even UConn. It’s freaking St Johns. That is all great and phenomenal, you’ll prob go 33-1 next year and have 17 different vice shows
But to post this today is bush league…that was an atrocious loss…embarrassing for everyone involved including the league
Also, now you have to deal with for the next 365 days not a single person outside the very small niche of cbb diehards will care..it will be met with “yea but they choke in the tournament”
Now id love to switch place with you are weren’t even really a d-1 program right now but to post this stuff hours after that embarrassment is very weak
No on talks on this board more about the randomness of the tournament than meHis post is ridiculous, but the “choke” stuff is wild. They just had a bad day. Lol ok so anything other than the Mike Anderson years are great? Got itWhat is bush league. St John’s had a phenomenal year and is primed for many years of success. No losses at home and many exciting moments at Garden. Sure beats rooting for Mike Anderson and wretchedly non competitive seasons.
Sorry if not so down. They ran into a team that was very miss seeded due to injuries. That sucks but it happens.
Unlike many past offseasons hoping for a wing and a prayer, St. John’s is in the game with the college basketball big boys again.
Bad loss. Agreed. Think your reaction is a bit harsh, but I get it because it’s them. I always put on my Hall-hat with this stuff. I’d hate the loss, but wouldn’t be more. Again I was disappointed in 93 when we had a regular season kind of like them, but I don’t remember thinking it was more than that. But I also appreciate many here won’t remember 93 or aren’t able to be objective about it.No on talks on this board more about the randomness of the tournament than me
But perception is what it is and that was a choke job..they couldn’t even make a layup after all that media..they were a two seed! And they lost to the “choke-job artist” himself in coach cal!
Bad bad bad loss
When you’re a 2 seed playing a 10 seed in a round of 32 game and your best player and POY is 3-17 and can’t even get in at the end of a 9 point loss that’s a chokeBad loss. Agreed. Couldn't throw the ball in the ocean outside of Zuby.Rick is easy to root against.Luis will be back next year.KR no more ready for NBA than this time last year.Red storm had their bad offensive game but so many small things add up...zuby not getting the ball the last 15 min a disaster
And it’s a 10 seed in Arkansas that even without Theiro has more pro and high end talent than SJU does. They are ones with the McDAA types. When you’re a 2 seed playing a 10 seed in a round of 32 game and your best player and POY is 3-17 and can’t even get in at the end of a 9 point loss that’s a choke
But I get your point..take choke out of it..it’s an atrocious loss for them and the league
Exactly so now I know I’m not the only crazy one who it reminded of 93. But again I get why Hall fans don’t want to go there with this.they have always been ny's team.
and i am pissed they lost. it is tourney time and we should root for every BE team
kadary awful . that last foul, often not called naybe but i thought it was a foul. luis bad too. take a jumper, too much forced stuff. and sju's offense, too much dribbling.
and they could not prevent ky from penetrating.
the game reminded me of 93 western ky. the better team couldnt do what it did every game. choke? maybe not the right word but it has to enter your mind
Yea that’s fine but you didn’t post something hours after the lossAnd it’s a 10 seed in Arkansas that even without Theiro has more pro and high end talent than SJU does. They are ones with the McDAA types.
When we lost to WKY in 93 as a two seed, after the season we had, I remember being crushed in the moment. We turned it over a ton including my namesake. When I reflect on that season now, 30+ years later, I feel good about it. Don’t you?
One serious question and answer honestly. Why is St. John’s a bully?Yea that’s fine but you didn’t post something hours after the loss
But I get your point…good post
I’ll just add one other thing Arkansas didn’t even play well and beat them by 9 and basically bullied the bully

He means how they’ve been a physical team and Arkansas which is basically bigger or as big across the board matched the physicality. One serious question and answer honestly. Why is St. John’s a bully?
The team had very few flagrant fouls the whole year. Maybe the least amount in the whole league. Played excellent and hard nosed defense all year and the coach had 2 technical fouls the whole year.
A bully is what is on the sidelines all year up in Storrs. Acting like a clown after every call against his team.
You’re taking it literally..they play tough, hard nosed physical “bully ball” and today they got punked at their own gameOne serious question and answer honestly. Why is St. John’s a bully?

Yes but 30+ years later I think most of us not only think fondly of that team but we would do anything to get it back.Darryl f'ing Mee
to me it is still a huge disappointment - some great ups - but cant escape that last down
I think they got “matched” is how I would put it. By a team more athletic and with some real strong bodies. You’re taking it literally..they play tough, hard nosed physical “bully ball” and today they got punked at their own game
Simple as that
Im not trying to start a war with you lol but could you have picked a worse example?Yes but 30+ years later I think most of us not only think fondly of that team but we would do anything to get it back.
I’m also a huge Yanks fan as some know or recall. I was at game 5 this year. Awful game to be at. Do I think Judge is a “choker” because he missed a ball and had a bad postseason on balance? I don’t. I’m thankful to have him.
So true --Slicky running O through Greek Kid and ignoring Ejiofor was panic City -Can not be a plus for his future recruiting/negotiationsA very brief stay in this tournament by Quick Rick, who coached an uncharacteristically bad game. He’s got two no-names in the last five minutes with Luis glued to the bench, the conference player of the year. And not feeding Ejiofor in the post is malpractice. Also, Daivon Smith sucks. St. John’s was going to win until that kid who used to play here fouled out (on a total non-foul).
Agreed he gets exposed in the postseason by better pitching. He’s also had some really nice postseason moments or even series. He hit a HR in the first inning of that game - I don’t think a guy who is a “choker” could do that.Im not trying to start a war with you lol but could you have picked a worse example?
I guess I do agree with you though..I wouldn’t say judge chokes he just isnt as good as people will say…he now has a LONG track record of ineptitude
Obviously these are all imperfect sciences because he’s not good compared to the amazing regular seasons he has so obviously he’s an all timer..but post season wise he is not a prime time player
Most advanced scouts agree btw
I wouldn’t call him a choker either it’s disrespectful to his careerAgreed he gets exposed in the postseason by better pitching. He’s also had some really nice postseason moments or even series. He hit a HR in the first inning of that game - I don’t think a guy who is a “choker” could do that.
Why I always thought Jeter was so great is because he was able to basically play in the postseason like the regular season. If anything he seemed to hit with a bit more power. Some guys though like Judge seem to get exposed by the consistent better pitching and scouting the playoffs bring.
Doesn’t mean though I don’t love Judge as a fan or appreciate I’m rooting for an awesome player.
Maybe it’s that. Or maybe it’s the better pitching in the postseason. Or maybe it is a bit of both. Arod went through that for a period and I always thought it was in his head until the magical 09 ride. All of a sudden he wasn’t such a postseason disaster anymore, at least for one year.I wouldn’t call him a choker either it’s disrespectful to his career
I would point to how his k rate explodes every post season to an unbelievable number (above his already very high number) as someone who lets the pressure and moment get to him consistently
This is exactly how I feel.Darryl f'ing Mee
to me it is still a huge disappointment - some great ups - but cant escape that last down
I remember it too well; that was a bitter failure. Our team was loaded with talent. No getting around what a bummer it was.Bad loss. Agreed. I checked the box score of that game today because this all reminded me of it.I remember it too well; that was a bitter failure. Our team was loaded with talent. No getting around it what a bummer it was.
I have better memories of those years too. This is exactly how I feel.
Sorry but I have better memories of 1991 and 2000 because of the tourney run vs. ‘93.
I know everyone says it’s a one-game playoff and shouldn’t reflect your entire season, but I don’t agree.
I feel you get exposed if you lose a game like we did in ‘93 and how St. John’s lost today.
Yep. I definitely remember that team too, and neither feel good about that season nor look back fondly on it. As you said, that team was loaded with talent. When I look back on that season I think “oh, what could have been.”I remember it too well; that was a bitter failure. Our team was loaded with talent. No getting around it what a bummer it was.
20 turnovers. Ugh.I checked the box score of that game today because this all reminded me of it.
Danny Hurley was 2-2 from 3. I don’t remember that!!
He hit two late. He hit one to tie the game. Then he hit another one on the next position I think to put us up by three. Then Jerry Walker scored inside to put us up by 5. I thought the game was over at that point. But some little guy drilled a deep 3 off a high screen and we couldn’t recover.I checked the box score of that game today because this all reminded me of it.

Terry had a million that game but turned it over a bunch and was ice ice cold from 3. In fact besides Danny (who I forgot about that game) we were bad from 3.He hit two late. He hit one to tie the game. Then he hit another one on the next position I think to put us up by three. Then Jerry Walker scored inside to put us up by 5. I thought the game was over at that point. Weird game. Dehere had 30 I think but no 3s. AK couldn’t make a 3. PJ was so disgusted with Luther that he sat almost the whole game, partly because he couldn’t keep up with the small mobile front court players that Western had.
Later that same day, Bobby Hurley’s career came to end when Duke lost to Cal led by Jason Kidd.
Yup i remember that some but not that many.20 turnovers. Ugh.
Is that what temple said about greer and sanchez? When you’re a 2 seed playing a 10 seed in a round of 32 game and your best player and POY is 3-17 and can’t even get in at the end of a 9 point loss that’s a choke

For the record Terry did hit one 3; he was 1 of 9.He hit two late. He hit one to tie the game. Then he hit another one on the next position I think to put us up by three. Then Jerry Walker scored inside to put us up by 5. I thought the game was over at that point. But some little guy drilled a deep 3 off a high screen and we couldn’t recover.

Actually worse than last year. Slick improved his 3-point shooting to 18% and FT shooting plummeted from around 75 percent at SHU to 57 percent at Johnnies.mCouldn't throw the ball in the ocean outside of Zuby.Rick is easy to root against.Luis will be back next year.KR no more ready for NBA than this time last year.
