NEW YORK – Seton Hall women’s basketball senior forward Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST team, the league announced at Media Day on Wednesday (Oct. 14). A two-time All-Conference selection in her career, Richardson-Smith was one of seven unanimous selection the 11-member team, voted on by the 10 BIG EAST head coaches. Also announced by the league was the Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which tabbed The Hall for a fifth-place finish.

The other coaches don't realize that we have replaced Didi, Janee and Daisha with 3 players almost as good.

Tony has re-loaded and has better depth. We will be fine. A contender for the top spot. And we will toughened by a rugged ooc sched.

Got no respect last season either. Our past history is still a question mark for many.

Until Seton Hall starts putting together a string of really good seasons and getting into post season across a wide range of sports there will always be doubters . I recognize that several of the women's sports had a very good year last year and women's golf has gone to the NCAA's two years in a row but until the various athletic teams become legitimate post season contenders not rating us high will be the norm. In the final analysis you earn respect by winning and winning consistently year after year and we just haven't done that enough in sports like men's basketball to men's and women's soccer to softball and other sports as well .

With the players lost, unknown replacements, plus a questionable frontcourt, this ranking doesn't surprise me. I would have put our team fourth behind DePaul, St. John's, and Villanova, but it doesn't shock me that Creighton slid in just in front of us.

Di-Di and Daisha had great seasons last year and I think people on here are shortchanging them a bit by saying the players brought in are "almost as good." They also played more minutes than any potential replacement is ready to play. That's not to say that they're irreplaceable, but just temper your expectations of the backcourt (which will still be good since the talent on the roster heavily leans towards it).
