In no particular order
1. Now I know how the fans of UConn women's BB feel watching a game. I hope I never watch a mismatch like I did last night again. It's near criminal to have players with that much of a talent gap compete against each other.
2. Great job by Grant in the post game. He comfortably handled questions like a coach who has been doing this for 10 years.
BTW, first time I ever saw a school's AD in this type setting as Bryan Felt sat in with the 20 or so reporters that were on hand. Bryan is as big a sports fans as most of us are and you can see his enthusiasm at the games.
3. Last night was the best ball movement, short of Powell going nuts in the first 4 minutes of the game, that I have seen from the Hall in a very, very long time. Hope it continues when the lights go on.
I asked Grant about that in the post game and he said these kids really like each other and get the same thrill passing for a basket as they do scoring one.
4. Two negatives in the blowout. 4 offensive picks called against our big men. That cannot happen moving forward. That's an emphasis with the new rules and you do not want to give up possessions by not setting proper picks.
The other negative is Obiagu's offensive game. It's basically non existent.
5. Steph Curry, I mean Romaro Gill is now 4-4 from the line.
6. What Powell did in the first 4 minutes of the game might never happen again in Walsh. Ridiculous doesn't begin to describe it.
7. Nelson was VERY rusty in his limited time. Made some plays a PG should not make. Understandable given his minor knee injury and missing practice.
8. Now everyone who went to the Beefsteak can understand why Willard torched Boeheim in his comedy act. There was method behind the madness.
9. Paul Gause is back. Wait, never mind. That was Jared Rhoden.
Are you kidding me, +50?
10. Mamu is so confident to date on the court. Let's see if that continues when the comp takes a leap.
11. Same Q so far. An absolute terror on defense but issues with his shooting.
12. Shavar Reynolds to date no longer looks like a charity case walk on to scholarship player.
13. Gill should clearly be starting over Obiagu beginning this Tuesday.
14. Remember when we all bitched about mass substitutions? Well, I still hate it, but with the depth of this team I might not hate it quite as much.
15. Best by far that Brodie has looked. I questioned (in my mind) if he was a Big East player but at least for this one night he looked the part.
16. TT is TT. So much talent but if you watched closely there was not max effort on the court.
A shame because he is so easy to root for and you want good things to happen for him but.....
17. I wish I had 5% of the physical talent that Samuel has. If he works hard (and to date I love his D) we'll see him in the NBA down the road. This is the type of player that UConn or Syracuse used to get all the time in their heydays.
18. SHU is really using the old Georgetown trap on defense when the ball goes to the sideline or comers. It's especially effective with our size.
19. Cale was Cale, +38 in 20 some minutes and you barely knew he was on the court. The only negative to date 1-9 from the arc in 2 games.
20. And finally, I saw the rims being sent to the emergency room after the game. Hope they recover from the abuse they sustained last night.
