For men's and women's basketball they list the standings of the Big 10 and The MAAC teams because of RU and Monmouth respectively. State University and local college- understandable.

But why not also add the Big East? With all the Seton Hall and Villanova fans in their circulation area - the shore-you'd think they'd want to increase reader interest and engagement.

Dan- if you run into Jerry Carino , you might want to bring this up.

Thanks.

Hey Jerry, what's the story??? For those who remember the ads from the 1970's for JGE in NYC.

The APP has gotten progressively worse since Gannett bought it. If you want hs sports, all shore media on the Net is far better. It is a waste of paper unless you have a wood burning fire place. I was a paper boy and worked there when in hs. I lived next to the owners Mom for my younger years, so it saddens me to admit that. But other than jerry, it is a waste.

Yesterday, the "rag that not be mentioned" didn't even list the score of SHU's game... but did have the scores from local powerhouses NJIT & FDU.

And that rag had B10 standings but no BE standings as well. Five miles from the SHU campus, it really is sad.

Dead issue. Clearly they do not care about SHU. Today they had multiple front page articles on Rutgers as well as more stories on pages 2 and 3.

The sports section has become an absolute joke. I would cancel the paper but I do not live alone. LOL

shuhoops.com is a great site for Seton Hall Basketball news...very interesting article on K Will and his love for KenPom when game planning

half the setion is gannett produced usa today to have auto content, the local guys who is left newman, edelson, carino and some high school coverage guys, not the same paper it used to be, economy dictates deal with it...that section in the late 90s had outstanding high school coverage, pages deep not any more

FYI, I was responding to a comment about the Ledger.

And remember, 8pm games are often too late to get in. But the APP is still a waste to me.

I snuck into the 92-3 BE media Day at the Hyatt House above Grand Central. I ran into Elliott Denman (APP sports writer and ex-Olympic race walker) who I recognized from reading his stuff all my life and struck up a conversation. I told him I snuck in and he offered to take me to the luncheon as he had an extra ticket. He told me he had heard something about BE expansion which I don't remember, but thought was wrong. I told him so and told him I heard ND was joining as a bb only member (I think that is what I told him, it was long ago, if ND's joining was around that time, I think that was it) Anyway, that Sunday, Denman has a centerfold article in the APP sports section about the BE media day, and he leads with the story I told him which I am sure he checked out and found was true. And I am sure SPK or Dan or one of you guys posted the info here which is how I knew. And I clearly remember a front page article introducing the latest SHU team before the first game, and they also had an article about RU on the front page too (we were above the fold, as it should be...lol). Sad to see newspapers as they were go away and not good for a free society, cause now we see such BS on the net and have no idea what to believe.

One last memory of that media day. They had interview tables in two rooms, as I went to the other room, I ran smack into Lou Carnessecca and gave him a big greeting - Hey Louie, how ya doin.... He looked at me, gave me a smile and said "how are you doing son...I haven't seen you in ages!"...which I always thought was the perfect thing to say in that situation. In ages indeed...lol

And now nothing.
