NEW YORK – Seton Hall graduate student Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) was named to the All-Met Division I Second Team by the Met Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) on Tuesday.

An All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Baines had a breakout campaign in her fifth and final year as a collegian in 2023-24 for the Pirates. Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll seven times, she upped her scoring and rebounding averages from 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds last year to 14.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in 2023-24. A starter in every BIG EAST game, she completed the regular season one of only three players in the conference to rank among the Top-12 in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Baines reached the prestigious 1,000-points milestone against Connecticut on Feb. 7 and currently ranks 51st on Seton Hall's career scoring list with 715 points. Earlier this season, Baines erupted for a season-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds in Seton Hall's victory over local rival Rutgers.

Most recently, Baines participated in the prestigious Women's College All-Star Game in Cleveland, Ohio on April 6.

The 2023-24 All-Met teams will be honored at the 91st MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday, April 18, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY. The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.

Unfortunately, Baines will not be able to attend the dinner as she is participating in the 2024 USA 3x3 Women's National Team training camp. Baines was a member of Team USA's 3x3 Team last year and represented the United States in international competitions in Chile and Mongolia.
