The baseball team plays one of its last 2 regular season series this weekend at Villanova. They can really
solidify their spot in the Big East tournament with a strong series. If they were to sweep Villanova it would
knock out Nova as a team that can pass The Hall. The other 2 teams in the mix are GTown and Butler, who play each other this weekend. The Pirates finish their season against Gtown in South Orange next weekend.

The guys have to forget about how the season has gone and elevate their focus. They must consider every
game a playoff or tournament game from this point forward. The intensity level is key for this team right now. You'd like to see the players standing up and chirping from the first pitch of the series. They need more energy in that dugout. The good teams in the past have been able to make the opposing pitchers work from the outset of the game. The first step is to get guys on base. The batters at the top of the order must get on base and the RBI hitters have to at least think singles and doubles in the short term. One run per inning is always a mindset that allows your offense to get it done.

Play Seton Hall Baseball, good pitching, sound defense and timely hitting. First thing first and that's a successful weekend at Nova.

Good post NYC pirate. It all depends on when a team peaks or gets hot. Remember Xavier last year? We dominated them in the regular season. Their record wasn't so good. Creighton was the team to beat. Then Xavier won the Big East tournament.

PREVIEW
Seton Hall dropped two of three games last weekend at Owen T. Carroll Field against Creighton and currently is in third place in the BIG EAST Conference with a record of 6-6. On Friday, the Pirates recorded arguably their best win of the season with a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the Bluejays on Star Wars Night. Trailing 4-2, Seton Hall scored three times in the bottom of the eighth. Sal Annunziata went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, a triple and a run scored. Joe DiBenedetto struck out three of the four batters he faced to preserve the win. On Saturday, Creighton came back from a 6-1 deficit to beat the Pirates, 10-7. Joe Poduslenko led The Hall with three RBIs and was one of four Pirates with two hits. On Sunday, Seton Hall only tallied three hits as Creighton edged The Hall, 4-2. Seton hall starter Anthony Elia gave up three earned runs over five innings before handing the game over to DiBenedetto. DiBenedetto pitched to just one batter over the minimum over the final four innings and didn't allow a hit. The left-hander still hasn't given up an earned run in 18.1 innings so far this season.

SERIES INFO.
(Seton Hall leads, 77-41)
Seton Hall and Villanova will resume one of the longest-running baseball rivalries in the nation when the teams get together for games 119, 120 and 121 this weekend in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. The Pirates have dominated the all-time series winning 77 of the prior 118 games, including the last six. Last season, Seton Hall swept the Wildcats at Owen T. Carroll Field. Sal Annunziata batted .500 with six RBIs during the series. Joe DiBenedetto pitched 4.2 innings of hitless baseball in leading the Pirates to an extra innings victory in game two of the series.

DOMINANT DIBENEDETTO
Furthering his position as one of the premier relief pitcher in the BIG EAST Conference, Joe DiBenedetto pitched 5.1 innings of hitless relief last week. He retired all four of his batters with three strikeouts in earning the victory on Friday vs. Creighton. On Sunday, he saw only one batter over the minimum in pitching the final four hitless innings vs. the Bluejays. To date, DiBenedetto has yet to give up an earned run in 18.1 innings this season with 21 strikeouts.

COMEBACK KIDS
Seton Hall scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday to defeat Creighton, 5-4. It was the first time this season that the Pirates won a game after trailing after seven innings in 2015. Seton Hall trailed 4-2, in the eighth inning, but scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and Sal Annunziata delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI single with one out to put the Pirates in front.

THE GIVER
On Saturday vs. Creighton, junior Derek Jenkins went 2-for-2 with three sacrifice bunts. The speedster now has eight sacrifice bunts on the season, which is tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference.

PAIR OF HONOR ROLLS
Senior Tyler Boyd and sophomore Anthony Pacillo were named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. Boyd went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four runs scored and a career-high six RBIs in Seton Hall's 16-5 victory over Rutgers on Sunday. Pacillo improved to 3-2 on the season with his first career complete-game shutout on Tuesday at Monmouth.

PIRATES ROUT RUTGERS
On Sunday, the Pirates offense broke out for 16 runs and 17 hits vs. Rutgers, their most since collecting 19 hits vs. Saint Peter's on March 18. Tyler Boyd went 4-for-4 with six RBIs. D.J. Ruhlman went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Derek Jenkins, Zack Weigel, Ryan Ramiz and Mike Caputo had two hits on the day. Ramiz reached base four times.

BOYD'S BRILLIANCE
On Sunday, senior Tyler Boyd turned in the best offensive performance of his career. The catcher went 4-for-4 with a home run, a sacrifice fly, two doubles, four runs scored and a career-high six RBIs.

BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
The 2015 BIG EAST Baseball Championship Presented by New York Life is scheduled for May 21-24, as Creighton University is set to host alongside the Conference at TD Ameritrade Park, home of the NCAA College World Series.

All-session tickets for the Championship will be on sale starting April 14 through the BIG EAST Baseball Championship Central and through Creighton's ticket master site. All-session tickets are available for $45 and $35 in two different pricing levels. There are no youth all-session prices.

The championship will be a four-team double-elimination tournament which will feature the top teams in the league. Preliminary rounds will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN). Sunday's Championship will air live on FOX Sports 2.

Baseball lost Game#1 of the series at Villanova. The Pirates had an early 4-1 lead, but the
pitching faltered and the bats were relatively silent.

This now becomes a sprint to the finish. Several teams including the Pirates are 6-7 in the conference. SHU really needs to sweep Nova on Saturday or they won't have that head to head in their pocket. SHU, Nova, Butler and Gtown are in contention for the last 2 spots. Butler has the head to head over SHU also. I believe we should root for GTown over Butler as the Hoyas travel to South Orange for the final series next weekend.

Seton Hall doesn't have too many more chips to lose this season. It's really win now or they're going to be eliminated from post season. As we've said more than a few times it just may be an off season for the baseball program. They do enough wrong to lose games, very uncharacteristic you'd have to say.

I still believe they can be a dangerous team if they can squeeze into the BigEast Tournament.

Baseball Team wins Game. 2 at Nova by the score of 3-2. They really could use this 2nd game of the Doubleheader. Also don't forget about the Softball team playing for the Championship later today

Lead 10-3 in the nightcap. Can't lose this one now. This would be an excellent day with a win here

Now10-9 Top of the 8th. That's very tough to give up 6 runs with a 10-3 lead in he bottom of the 7th They now need several more runs as insurance Unbelievable

Nova 12 SHU 10. nova 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th and 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th. WTF Seton Hall usually finds a way to win games, SHU this year finds a way to lose games. Ace pitcher from last year Luke Cahill 10-2 last year has been injured, one of the best hitters D j Ruhlman has missed games recently. Unreal.

OK first some good news. GTown is ahead of Butler late in their game in DC. That would leave Butler and Gtown at 6-8 going in to Sunday's final game of the series. Seton Hall and Nova are tied at 7-8 and have completed their series. SHU can at least knock GTown out next week in South Orange. Butler goes to Xavier next weekend, not sure if we can get any help there. I guess the best news is that Nova has to go to Creighton next weekend, so the Pirates could get a lot of help there. Both Butler and now Villanova have the head to head over SHU. If the Pirates sweep GTown they should qualify for the BigEast Tournament. It's that simple. Hopefully Gtown can win this game and the Sunday game vs Butler. So that's a best case scenario.

It's very hard to come down on the baseball program, but this year's team up until this point has been very soft to say the least. When they get pitching they can't hit and when they hit the pitching let's them down. They never win in a tough spot or against a good team. They showed great heart today at Nova only to lose the 2nd game in mindboggling fashion. Having a 10-3 lead going to the 7th was all you could have asked for. They then gave up 9 runs in two innings?? They basically had put one foot into the conference tournament and now have made it tough on themselves.

There have been some good signs of late on the offensive side. Now the pitchers are struggling with the Pirates holding some nice leads. They can still take care of business and will qualify with just a little luck. We all hope the team can finally put it together next weekend. Let's see what happens.

OK Seton Hall will control their own destiny to get into the BigEast Tournament. GTown beat Butler in their series finale. So you now have SHU, GTown and Nova at 7-8 going into their final 3 games. Butler really hurt their chances this weekend and are now 6-9 going into their final series vs Xavier.

Should the Hall sweep Gtown they are in no matter what happens elsewhere. If they win 2 out of 3 in South Orange next weekend they'll be in with either one Butler loss or 2 Villanova losses at Creighton.

The bottom line is they better take care of business. SHU is one of the best baseball programs on the East coast and not qualifying for the BigEast Tournament would be a major disappointment.
