Just remembering preseason a total unknown at center was one of our biggest concerns and I was pessimistic about our prospects knowing nothing about our big men transfers other than the names of their previous schools.

And realizing that I forgot all of that because I basically expect near double-doubles game in and game out from him as seemingly one of our most solid recent front court players and reliable guy on this team.

Pretty great!

I’m willing to say he’s the best player on the team. This is probably going to be his toughest matchup all year and he’s more than holding his own. As I said before, he needs to be more of a focal point on offense
He has been absolutely fantastic.

However, I honestly thought he would match up well vs Clingan tonight. I was just concerned that he could get into early foul trouble. But the refs let the big boys play and he was aggressive challenging everything UConn tossed up at the rim.

I am more concerned about when they play Marquette and Creighton. Ighodaro and Kalkbrenner are much more mobile and can take their game outside the paint.

But he was doing a great job of hedging the pick and roll and recovering back into the lane. So it will be exciting to see what he can do in those matchups.

He has so much to like about him.
It takes a lot of energy to stay with their big guy.
He is in great physical shape.
Plus he is agile and quick on his feet + good moves and hands.
He gives it 100% and for the most of the time,
not fouling.

So lucky to have him.

Bediako has played very well this season so far. A great find for us. He fills his role extremely well and it's hard to ask him to do much more than he's done to this point.

I like the idea we've got a center averaging 10 and eight in 24 minutes per game. I hope we can get EHE playing at a better and more consistent level to keep the burden on Bediako from getting too heavy.

UConn made it a point to attack Bediako with Clingan early on and Bediako stuffed the ball right back in his face. Not once, but twice. It was at that moment that I knew we would be ok. Bediako is a legitimate Big East center and he has to stay healthy and out of foul trouble. We take a massive step backwards when he’s on the bench. He’s a pleasure. Hell of a player.

Great win tonight over the defending national champs. Bediako has been the most pleasant surprise. The Pirate fans on this site were too quick to criticize this signing. He is a legit Big East Center. Seems to me Sha knows how to develop players quite well. He proved this at St Peters and at this time here so far.

Tim Mcloone announced that he had 2 fouls in the first half with 11 mins left. McCloone announced his two in the first half in the arena, actually the first two Pirate fouls. He then announced that Jaden picked up his third in the last 30 seconds of the half out 25' from the basket switching on a guard. I was mad he was in the game. It was actually only his 2nd at that point. Maybe Tim is starting to lose it a little as he also announced Dylan with an emphatic layup when it was clearly was Richmond. I really have enjoyed Tim all these years but I was confused and rightfully so last night based on what he was announcing.

The obvious and major problem is that EHE is awful. Cant defend, and certainly cant rebound the defensive glass for whatever reason. There will be nights we’ll need him for 10-12, maybe 15-20. Those +/- mins will definitely cost us games. Its obvious Sha only trusts 6 (maybe 7 with Stacks) so his constant “I gotta find these guys rests” will get old. They all have to play 30+, no other way around. Not sure Davis’ body will hold

I think he will be fine. Watch how well he plays on switches with guards and forwards He was tremendous last night switching.

When he is in the game we should play zone he is too slow to play a switching man to man defense .

I actually was surprised to look up and see it was only Jaden’s second foul right before halftime. At first I thought Sha screwed up by having him out there because I thought he picked up his third. Didn’t he pick up two early fouls? Unless they gave the one under the basket to somebody else. That’s the only explanation. The one on the baseline was on him because he was the only defender there.

Incredible job switching on and off, plus we used his screens over and over on drives to the basket . Great court presence has his head in the game, plus the dude can mix it up and bang with anyone under the basket. In moveable object, sure Clingan will remember him. Love watching kids who understand the game.

I thought EHE would be pretty good here, especially offensively. But so far I was dead wrong as he looks slow and without a plan. He's out of position constantly, even when in the post. Maybe he's adjusting as he was a different player at Austin Peay in terms of what he was asked to do. He's got more athleticism than Bediako, but less of a clue on how to play and why he looks so slow IMO.

We're going to need key bench minutes. The BE is too much of a grind to have these guys going 33-37 minutes every single game. Hope it emerges.

One of the fouls was given to someone else, we had this discussion in section 9 as well last night.

Yeah, I heard that and knew it was wrong. In fact Mcloone, who is usually very accurate made a couple of mistakes throughout the game.

He's forgiven as last night everything turned out great.

Going to miss Mcloone big time when he retires, he’s our Bob Sheppard. Voice of the Pirates, love when he says” and the Pirates retake the lead”.

I think EHE’s role has not been completely defined yet. I feel like Sha is slowly incorporating guys into the lineup with a role. Last night he also went small a couple of times with no real center at all. Wusu took awhile to get comfortable hoping EHE is not far behind, but agree he looks a bit lost, I thought Wusu had the same look up until Missouri.

You're a 6-9 no name center playing perhaps one of the best big men in the country and 28:43 minutes later you're leading the team with a +20.

In the preseason I noted I loved his play. But I would be lying if I said I loved it this much.

EHE just needs to stay closer to the basket and not get caught out in no mans land on a switch. I still like him a lot.

I agree Bediako has been solid in pretty much every game so far and a really good find by Sha.

I'm not sure if Tim keeps his own notes on things like that or the information is given to him. When I did PA for Women's games at Walsh years ago, I was right next to the stat crew and had that data readily available.

Regardless, I believe the first foul announced as being on Bediako was actually on Coleman.

Actually, I believe that when they announced his first foul it was actually an out of bounds call that they assumed was a foul by Bediako.

I actually thought that he announced Dylan for a Kadary layup twice. The Jaden fouls were confusing. I too as surprised that Dylan was starting the second half with 3 fouls as announced.... but scoreboard had 2. Tipping the Christmas cheer perhaps? LOL, I give him a pass... he is entertaining and has always been spot on.

Play a 3 2 zone with him in the game and that will not happen .
