Nova hosts Nebraska per Jon Rothstein. Huge disappointment. Other games expected to be announced this week.

Crummy matchup. Nova fans who were hoping for a beefed-up OOC are going to be disappointed.

2 BE teams left out each year, so we may be watching on TV. And I wouldn't bet on a better opponent, there are a lot of so-so teams in the BIG

It would be great if Seton Hall drew Michigan. Despite the lingering bitterness re the '89 title game, it would be a tremendous opportunity to market the program in the best light possible. Current coaching mismatch notwithstanding, it's a natural for the media to take a look back at that game, which would surely get the attention of current players Seton Hall is recruiting. These young players might think, "Seton Hall got there once, and I can help them get there again. I would even be in favor of the game being played at Michigan (If NJIT can win there, why not Seton Hall?).

Because of the '89 game, this would be something of a sexy matchup. When was the last time Seton Hall was involved in one of those?

That's the team I want to see Seton Hall matched up against as well (if SH is one of the eight teams to play). The teams have met only once since the 1989 championship game, in the very next season in fact.

I hope they spice it up. I have no idea how many teams will be included and would've loved a Villanova vs. Michigan State and then Creighton vs. Nebraska, but how about some...

Seton Hall vs. Michigan
Marquette vs. Wisconsin
Georgetown vs. Maryland
St. John's vs. Rutgers
DePaul vs. Northwestern
Butler vs. Indiana

Some local teams mixing it up.

This would be fantastic, though Nebraska at Villanova doesn't suggest any real creativity is forthcoming. I would be surprised if your second and third matchups happened, since the schools involved have a history of not playing each other. It would be great for the sport, though; it would put fannies in front of TV sets.

Back to Nebraska-Villanova, it makes you wonder about whoever's in charge of planning this series. Don't they want to have the best series possible? If not, then why even show up for work?

Wisconsin and Marquette play every year in December, so I think a Wisconsin vs Seton Hall matchup at The Rock would be great.

why not Villanova vs. Penn St? Wacky match up against Nebraska.

I got the feeling that some Big Ten AD's & coaches balked maybe?

Nebraska playing in philly is like us when we played in Europe. It's a good cultural experience for the mid western kids. But as far as any other positives, that's all I can come up with.
It's a shame because they could have made this thing worth watching. Maybe they will make up for this by having Gtown play Purdue , or even more interesting, DePaul playing Wisconsin.

Marq & Wisconsin, plus Nebraska & Creighton, as well as SHU & Rutgers all seem to play every years, so those matchups will not happen as part of this challenge, that is my understanding. Remember this is the first year, some teams schedules might be pretty tight already (since only announced last year) so that might impact matchups/potential available teams to be included, but you would hope some of the matchups would include top BE vs top B10.

Don't forget about the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Also, the Big Ten has a lot of teams play in tough neutral site games every year. Michigan St. vs. Duke in Indy, Indiana vs. Louisville at MSG, Ohio St. vs. UNC in Chicago are some examples of neutral games this year outside of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge and the early season tournaments. Once you toss those in, the schedules get even tougher.

I suspect that you'll see one or two even match-ups with the rest being the top of one conference playing the bottom of the other. The Big Ten has way too many other marquee games out of conference to toss one of the top teams against Villanova.

I don't believe the league would leave off the two lowest ranked team. Not saying that SHU would be one of the two lowest. But if we (and DePaul) are I'm sure only one would sit out.
